YOUNG AVENGERS #5

• The book where when a character says “I did it half an hour ago” normally means doing “it” half an hour ago reaches its first epic conclusion.

• Why Did Loki Do It? No one kno… okay, we’ll tell you…Well, part of it.

• Miss America probably punches someone. She usually does.

  1. Great use of negative space on the cover, I am loving this book so far!

  2. Last issue catapulted YA into my top five books. Can’t wait for this.

  3. POW again???? Maybe.

  4. I’m sooooo glad the ifanboy POTW for the #1 made me try this book! Thanks guys!

  5. I had to temporarily drop this title, but I’m picking it up again Wednesday. Has Kate Bishop played a big role in this series yet or is it mainly Kid Loki?

    • I’d say it’s been a mostly a mix of Loki, Hulkling and Wiccan so far, with a side of Miss America. And last issue was a particularly awesome Noh-Varr feature. Not too much Kate yet.

  6. Dropping this title now that this arc is over, I like Chavez and Prodigy but I’m not hanging around to keep seeing Wiccan play the pity card and I never got the hype for Kid Loki

  7. I started reading this with the last issue and this one was just as good. Becoming a favorite of mine!

  8. I thought this was another great issue. Kid Loki is still my favorite, but some of others are starting to catch up with him. I hope that Wiccan evolves from his current whiny guy role, because it’s already getting old. I was stoked to see Loki’s guilty conscience appear, I’m sure Gillen will have a lot of fun playing with that device. There wasn’t a “holy shit” panel or spread this issue, but McKelvie and Norton continue to impress.

I hope we start getting to know the rest of the team more in the coming arcs, I’m interested in learning more about Miss America, Kate Bishop, and Nor-Varr. The break next issue should be interesting, I’m not familiar with either of the characters–or the guest artist–but with Gillen writing it I’m sure it will be a fun read.

    • It wasn’t as unorthodox as the Noh-Varr spread from last issue, but I thought the double-page spread when Loki is sitting in the magic circle was kind of a “holy shit” design.

    • Yes that was pretty impressive. Don’t get me wrong, the art team is killer, and I don’t expect my mind to be blown every issue; I guess I was just noting that there wasn’t a page where I stared open-mouthed like last month.

  9. What has happened to Kid Loki? Is the evil Loki back? I did not read after he died.

    • I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’d suggest hitting up marvelwikia.com, and searching the “Everything Burns” storyline from JiM.
