  1. Cyclops was always my favorite of the X-Men, and one of my favorite Marvel characters. I was pissed how he was treated in the movies. Hopefully this book will be Wolverine free…

  2. This "series" has been hit and miss, but I’d say its more good than bad.  I’m a new X-Men fan so these have been great for getting me to know the characters.  I have such a love for Colossus now because of his Origins issue.

I was hoping Angel would be next so we’d have the original five, but it looks like Nightcrawler is set for March.

  3. Star wars shommage cover?

  4. wonder if ron will get this?

  5. You know… when I read this title I thought "is this a movie promo?" Then I got excited as I imagined the possibilities of a Cyclops origin. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow. (pulled).

  6. Beautiful cover.

  7. Agreed. That is an amazing cover.

  8. I loved the Iceman Origin! There was a Cyclops one?

  9. Ooopps, I meant Colossus.

  10. @AmirCat

I believe Colossus was the first one.  I don’t remember exactly when it came out, but I distinctly remember the little ad on the cover by the Marvel logo being for The Incredible Hulk movie.

  11. This focused way too much on that first encounter with Magneto and not nearly enough on the actual origin.  They didn’t even bother to explain what the hell was going on with those planes (being a new x-men fan, I really have no idea).  I also felt that young Scott and Alex were written to be -way- too mature for a fourth(ish) grader and his little brother.

Despite all that, this was a mostly enjoyable issue. My only nitpick was that it bothered me that the artist drew two separate beams coming out of Cyclops’s visor… kinda defeats the spirit of his name.

  12. I liked it. I’m not much of a Cyclops fan but I did enjoy what the character has become enough to actually get the book. It’s a pretty decent story, perhaps not good enough to carry the retro-art (god knows I get enough of that kind of style from digging for back issues of Uncanny). Definetly a 4, even though it’s not really relevant to Utopia atm. I think it’s worth a damn if you’re in it for character developement.

@Slockhart: I think they were trying to go for that Uncanny 60’s style. And I agree with you, it’s pretty cooler if they had done it how it’s done on the cover. I was also miffed about the jumbling of the actual origin. Believe me when I say watching the Cyclops-centric episode in the X-men Animated series was more origin than this comic was. XD. But that’s fine, because this comic did something to develope Scott.

  13. I picked up the previous Iceman Origin issue and i’ll give this one a try.
