  1. It’s usually a bad sign when there are still 0 comments on a book by Wednesday morning.

    Hello? Anyone out there?

    • I’m still enjoying this book, but for my money, it’s been chugging along at 3 stars for a while now. It’s still entertaining, but not “OMG, GIMME MOAR WATXM NOWWW!”

I’m honestly having trouble remembering why Kilgore and his Hellfire Club are really that big of a threat.

Someone else (maybe you WheelHands?) said it around here, and I tend to agree: This book hasn’t been the same since Broo got shot.

I’m hoping Battle of The Atom shakes things up and brings a return to form.

    • I agree with you Ken. I am still enjoying the book and I look forward to it coming out but it has been struggling a little.

Broo went from being a fun character to boring.
They also got rid of Kid Gladiator who was one of my favorites.
I know they are pushing Idie and she has some potential but currently is a very boring character.

Have they had another antagonist than the Hellfire Club?
I would like to see them go away for a long while after this arc. Bring them back in the future with a good story but I right now I feel like the are being overused to their detriment.

    • I agree with both of you. The book certainly isn’t bad. It just hasn’t had that particular luster since the circus storyline. I think the Hellfire Academy is a good idea. I’m just sick of the little brats. Hope they get shelved for a while after this.

@Ken: Not sure if it was me, but I certainly feel that way about Broo. I’m really hoping Aaron has a plan to restore him. Seems like a bad move to lobotomize the most popular new character in your book. Maybe that hunter/collector Brood expert guy will find a way to upload Broo’s psyche back into the little guy. I hope so.

@RobotZombie: I also agree that the loss of Kid Gladiator was a misstep. Next to Broo, he and Warbird are my favorite new characters in the cast. Perhaps Aaron just likes dangling creative characters in front of our noses and then taking them away? Some sick effort to keep us coming back? Stranger things have happened. I have a feeling we’ll be saying similar things about Old Thor over in GOT now that he’s on hiatus.

I really liked this, but I don’t think I’m liking this book in general enough to pay 8 bucks a month for it when money’s tight. This issue makes for a good jump off point. Maybe I’ll catch up later in trades. See you, Jean Grey School!

  3. This was a pretty mediocre arc… not awful, but not great. I’d say they made a mistake calling it the Hellfire “SAGA,” because that gives it so much to live up to. The Dark Phoenix Saga’s a classic, and Remender’s Dark Angel Saga was the modern version of that. To take something as important to the X-men as “The Hellfire Club” and then tack Saga on the end… well that’s gotta be epic. And this wasn’t.

The ending was a clever tease for the new series out in November though, which I was already planning to buy, but this has me looking forward to it more now.

  4. I thought this was the best issue of this in a long while. There was a lot of payoff and it set up a lot of stuff for the future, and it looks like it might be focusing back on the school for a while which will be nice.

  5. This arc really picked up over the last two issues. Great ending. Truly exciting.

Broo’s back! Yaaaaaaay!! Now bring back Kid Gladiator!

Also … BAMF! Oh yes. SO excited.

  6. Loved this, for me this was the best this has been since just before AvX.
