WALLY WOOD’S EC STORIES ARTIST’S EDITION HC

IDW proudly presents WALLY WOOD’S EC STORIES: ARTIST’S EDITION, collecting more than a dozen complete stories by the great Wally Wood, plus an exceptional cover gallery. Each page is scanned from the original art, same size as drawn, and in full color (in insure the best possible reproduction). Since Wood’s originals were larger than modern size comic art, measuring 12 x 18 inches, plus the paper, this Artist’s Edition will be a GIGANTIC 15 x 22 inches!

Brought to you by the same team responsible for the Eisner Award-winning The Rocketeer: The Complete Adventures Deluxe Edition and Walter Simonson’s The Mighty Thor: Artist’s Edition.

WHAT IS AN ARTIST’S EDITION?

AN ARTIST’S EDITION PRESENTS COMPLETE STORIES WITH EACH PAGE SCANNED FROM THE ACTUAL ORIGINAL ART.

While appearing to be in black and white, each page was scanned in color to mimic as closely as possible the experience of viewing the actual original art—for instance, corrections and blue pencils. Each page is printed the same size as drawn, and the paper selected is as close as possible to the original art board.

  1. I wish I had the cash for this. Wally Wood is one of my favorite artists and I’m sure this is a collection worth having.

  2. I got this last week. It’s a beast. It makes the other Artist’s Editions look meek by comparison.

  3. Want want want want want!!! Damn tax season!

  4. My shelf is not ready @_@

  5. Of all the editions this would be the one I would like to have the most but it is not to be

  6. Don’t feel bad….even if you could afford it, unless you got to it early, you probably wont be able to find it. there’s only one place I can find it and it’s 150 + freight. FTS. Saving my money for Oakland this weekend and get some autographs at the Image fest instead. Meet some comic book legends that are alive and not dead for 30 years.

  7. as Ry Cooder said, I got mine. Next is Born Again 😮

  8. IDW’s website is already listing this book as sold out. If you want it, I recommend hitting your local shop early on Wednesday. My LCS ordered 3 John Romita Artist’s Editions between their 2 stores. I’m expecting they ordered even less of this one. Anyone know what the print runs are on these?

  9. Print runs were too limited. Good luck finding this. here’s a great alternative for all of us schlubs who missed the boat or found this great book price prohibitive: http://www.amazon.com/Came-Other-Stories-Comics-Library/dp/1606995464/ref=wl_mb_hu_c_3_dp

This book is 240 pages for 14 bucks! what more could you ask for. I like 5.8 cents per page way more than 1.5 dollars per page.

    • That’s a completely different kind of book. You don’t buy the Artist’s Editions for the stories (though it’s a nice bonus). They’re art books.

    • You’re right in the art regard. I surmise that if you look at the artisit edition as an alternative to buying original art it’s a hell of a deal. I’m not that hard core of a collector, however it would have been a nice step for me. A first. im looking at “then came the dawn” as a Wallace Wood consolation prize of sorts. It’s like that old cartoon where the bird settles for the homely wife and says, “well, at least she can cook.”

    • the thing about limited edition art books is that they are designed and marketed to be a rare artifact. It increases the probability that people will jump tp pay for it now, instead of saying “oh well i want it, but its kinda expensive” and then stash it in their amazon wish list.

  10. A rare and beautiful book indeed. I hope to one day see it firsthand. That’s all I want to do.
