UNKNOWN SOLDIER #24

Two men sit at a table. One is a WWII veteran, a highly placed secret agent known only by the code name Unknown Soldier. The other is a psychologically deconstructed ghost named Moses Lwanga. Tonight, one will tell the other his story – and the course of their lives will be changed forever.

  1. This book has been absolutely fantastic since it started! Sad it’s ending soon but cannot wait to get my hands on it. Don’t see how this won’t be my POTW.

  2. Can’t believe this is going to be the second-to-last issue. It’s criminal. Such a great series.

  3. with this series coming to a close, can anyone think of anything in the future to watch out for, or older titles to go back to and read in its stead?

Granted, nothing can replace the weight and impact of this series, but what might be something with a somewhat similar tone?  The first thing I can think of for people that enjoyed this series, is       The Amazon.  It’s a 3 issue mini-series recently reprinted by Dark Horse.

What does anyone else think?  Other suggestions?

  4. How about the 2nd series of Unknown Soldier by Ennis?

  5. Ennis’s Unknown Soldier is pretty good but it’s a 4 issue mini, reading Transmetropolitan for the first time and while it is ridiculously over the top is has many moments that are pretty deep and deal with transcendent issues…

  6. @ iwaesch: I don’t actually have a suggestion, but I agree that the market desperately needs this kind of stark, politically relevant series on the stands. Unlike when a superhero or sci-fi/fantasy book ends, this will be very difficult to replace.
