I don’t like the New Hulk being a bad stereotype and how a brilliant scientist turns into it. But everthing else has been good. Specially Punisher being the opposite of Cap.
What’s up with Zombie Spider-Man on the cover?
A call back to that weird Spidey in the glass tank in the first Avengers arc hopefully.
Amir, I think the New Hulk is the exact opposite of the stereotype.
This book is good, Millar does good work
Why shouldn’t the new hulk appear to be a stereotype? If you examine the character’s, albeit very brief, history it would seem likely that a nerdy, weak professorial type of guy might dream of being a bad ass. Given the oportunity he got, he would probably model himself on the worst stereotype of a gangster.
I think he is not a sterotype because he is not a bug dumb thug. He is smart and even though he pretends like he doesn’t care about the world around him, he does. Look at how they motivate him to join the team. They threaten to tell his children and wife that he is still alive. That is not something that would motivate a cold, heartless mafioso. He cares about his family to the extent that he doesn’t want to be thought of as an absentee father. Even though he is fulfilling a wet dream of his there is still that one tether of humanity left. The emotion of love and care for his family is something that I think is pigeonhole busting. Maybe also the fact that he is an absurd extreme example of capitalism too is interesting, but i didnt want to bring in politics.
Tyrone Cash is one of my favorite new charaters.
mark millar needs to relearn how to write comics.
whats the story with the spider? this is my 1st time reading anything ultimates
we’ve seen a glimpse or two or him but this is the first anyone has really seen of him. Don’t worry, you’re not lost – you’re just confused right along with the rest of us.
There’s some good stuff in this series – the fued with the Stark brothers and Fury’s relationship with the Ultimate and the rest of the Ultimate U. Unfortunately Millar blows right past all that in favor of a mediocre fight (though Yu’s work was awesome in it) and giving us Fury’s sexual history. The focus is way off.
I agree with Darth Duck. It just seems like Millar has so much that he wants to write about; on the same note though as a reader it seems like 3 or 4 tangents per issue and one tiny glimpse at the main plot. The only reason I keep pulling this book is because all the tangents seem so good. The tangents include: a peek into Nick Fury’s sex life, a feud between the stark brothers that never really gets expanded upon and a revision of Nerd Hulk’s name. All of them are interesting but I wanna know more about the main plot of this book. One more thing, why was Cash on the cover if he has no part in the issue. Things like that make me angry.
TRIVIA:
Maui Taylor (from Black Widow’s relatives) is a Filipino sexy actress. Oh, Leinil Yu..
