  1. Last issue kicked ass this book is finally starting to go.

  2. I have’nt bought the first 9 so I’m too late to start reading.

  3. Thanks for the update…I guess…

I myself, love the addition of Despero to the evil Trinity.  And Busiek returning to the cosmic egg has defintiley piqued my interest.  Maybe it’s time to pull out the JLA/Avengers hardcover and give it another read.

  4. I think what Kory might be trying to say is "too little too late".

  5. It could be the best book being published but if you want me to buy a weekly book you gotta bring it from the start not 2-3 months in.  Maybe I’ll read the trade.  Don’t get me wrong, I want to like this.

  6. Shame it was a slow starter. That was a bummer. Right along with the cover price. But now that the Cryme Syndicate of Amerika is here – Hoo-boy! I have to re-read JLA/Avengers and his run on Justice League of America…

  7. @Kory – 52 was also a slow starter.  It took about 19 uneven issues until it started getting really good.

  8. @Conor- That’s 60 bucks I’d have to spend before I got any enjoyment.  That’s the type of money I can’t afford to flush down the toilet.  Maybe I’ll start with this issue.  Is this a good starting point?

  9. I picked up the first 9 issues on Sunday, finished reading them last night, and am now fully on board. I’m really liking everything about this so far; there’s a compelling sense of foreboding, the art is fantastic, and the characterization is spot-on. Plus, I’m far more interested in the DCU than Marvel these days and this series seems to be a great way to become even more familiar with the various characters. It’s a bit of a hit to my monthly budget, but there are a few books that I’m either dropping soon or at the end of their runs/arcs, so I was able to justify it.

  10. I hear more and more people saying they’re more interested in DC.  Could it be event fatigue with Marvel?

  11. @Kory

How could you be fatigued from Secret invasion? it’s hard to get tired when nothing happens for 5 months…..

  12. @Kory – For me, I just find the universe itself more interesting than the Marvel one, both in terms of characters as well as the overall multiverse concept. While I love certain Marvel books, none of the flagship Avengers books or recent events (Civil War, WWH) have clicked for me. I still have some hope for SI, but am not liking how all the good stories are being told in tie-ins, not the actual miniseries. But…I’m getting off track so I’ll stop talking about my views on DC vs. Marvel. Trinity is good! 😉

  13. @Paradiddle – That’s awesome that you have caught up! I hope more people who jumped off this book early, will jump back on. It’s getting really good now.

Think of it as a JLA book with ties into A LOT of the DCU. It’s good stuff.

  14. @paradiddle- My disinterest in Marvel, other than Captain Britain and couple other titles, comes from the fact that they went for shock value with Civil War by unmasking Spider-man publicly promising it would become status quo only to retcon it by some stupid deal with Mephisto less than a year later.  It means around the time Peter unmasked, they were planning the Brand New Day arc which, IMO, is sorting ripping off their fans.

But don’t get me wrong, single Peter is better than a married one, they just could have found a better way than they did.

  15. I look forward to this every week. The team has really solidified. Bagley is better every issue. People should catch up with this while the issues are still available.

  16. this book sucks.

  17. Who is giving this issues 2 stars?  I will agree that the first few issues were crap, but this is a solid issue.  Are you rating the series or the issue?

This week’s main story was very nice other than a few superman characterization issues.  The backup was excellent.  I would read a Nightwing and Robin book with that kind of crisp writing and solid art in a second.

  18. @stuclach – You should look back at the old NIGHTWING issues that Scott McDaniel drew.  Good stuff.

  19. I decided not to pick it up.

  20. @conor – I will check those out.  Between Tomasi and the last two backup features I have really come to appreciate Nightwing like never before.  I plan on going back and getting some of his seminal issues.

Also @conor – I noticed you gave this issue a 3, do you think the series is getting better?  I certainly think it is recovering nicely from a really weak start.

  21. @stuclach — I highly second conor’s recommendation (can you highly second something?) of Scott McDaniel & Chuck Dixon on Nightwing. Get any of those Nightwing issues you can with that creative team, they’re some of my favourite comics of all time.

Trinity was good again! I’m surprised this book continues to be such a solid read after a shitful start.

  22. @stuclach – Three out of five stars is a good, solid rating.  That’s what TRINITY is, so far, a good solid book.

  23. @conor – I am a professor (economics) at a small (5,000 students) university in Georgia, so when I rate a book I am assigning a letter grade.  5=A, 4=B(80%), 3=D(60%), 2=F(40%), 1=Expelled.  When I give a book a 3 then I think of it as a borderline failure.  If I give a book a 2 then it gets one more shot to bring it’s grade up or I drop it.  If I give a book a 1 I completely stop buying it.  I certainly thought of this issue as being well above failure, so I gave it a B.  The first few issues flip flopped between 2’s and 3’s.  The only 5 I have given recently was Final Crisis #3.

I guess I was just projecting my scoring method onto you.  You are clearly using a 3 as an sort of average score, whereas, for me an average book is a 4.  Maybe I should re-evaluate my methods.

  24. @stuclach – What happened to C? 🙂

  25. @WadeWilson – If I were able to give 3.5’s then there would be a C category.
