  1. I’m going to jump to issue with May’s #50 and give the whole “Fables” crossover a shot, but I’m already getting sad at the possibility that this could be my penultimate volume before I eventually drop the book.

I didn’t really enjoy “Fables” when I tried it way back (3 trades & I was out) and I got a tinge of fanboy rage when the crossover was announced, mainly because I feel it dillutes this book’s singular vision… But oh well, we’ll see how it goes and there has to be plenty of goodness packed into these particular pages…

    • Don’t worry it’s not an exact cross-over, just the Fables characters in the Unwritten series. You won’t need too get both, just Unwritten!

    • I know, I know, it just bothers me in the way that I never thought I could be bothered. It’s akin to if they crossed over “100 Bullets” with “Scalped”. I read Vertigo series for their singular vision of a story and this just seems unnecessary (although, I’m sure I’d be horrified by the sales numbers of “The Unwritten” and I’m sure someone at DC thinks this IS necessary)…

But I’m also of the minority opinion that the love and praise lavished on “Fables” is a mass delusion on par with the droves of folks who act like Neil Gaiman & Joss Whedon are the only writers who have ever raised the bar of quality in comic, when in reality, most of these folks have only read their stuff, but have never even dug deep enough to run into someone like Grant Morrison…

      But I digress…
