  1. Wow. That’s not a good looking cover.

  2. yet another great cover tarnished by a fuckn’ marvel banner.
    it just seems so…sacrilegious

  3. I have to admit that the branding seems to draw a lot of complaints.

Marvel may be getting just a tad too over-the-top with the banners.

    😉

  4. Please, please, please make Iron Fist be the one that leaves the team.

  5. Is it just me or has this series been riding the same exact plot curves as Avengers lately? It seems like the last issue I read of New Avengers had the team being defeated by Norman Osborn’s cronies, where a week later, I’m reading an issue of Avengers where the team is being defeated by Norman Osborn’s cronies. Differently dressed cronies, mind you, but the same basic thing.

    • You are correct.

But I still love it for some reason!

    • Possibly the only reason I’m still hanging on to this is that I love Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Nothing story-related is keeping me here, so I’ll probably drop off of this once this arc ends and AvX starts, and pick up the trades sometime in the future.

  6. The banner could have been much more eloquent and just as effective. That’s a graphic design FAIL.
But yeah comicBookchris. Avengers and New Avengers feel very much the same. And what’s worse, Bendis is just retreading stories from a year or two ago. Really happy to see him going!

  7. Man, were is the Avenger love people!?!?!??!

    • I’m bummed that Bendis is leaving this title.

I do not think he needs to be writing the whole franchise but New Avengers is his baby and he is leaving it.

I want a Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Thing, Dr. Strange type team.

Hope Bendis does a Cage book even if it has two other characters like Avengers Prime.

    • A solo Luke Cage book would be really cool.

  8. It may just be me, but i just cant get down with Deodato’s work. Actually made me drop New Avengers.

  9. Deodato’s abuse of 3d models for his artwork is annoying and the whole Osbourne plot line got a world record when it jumped over the shark.

  10. Awesome fight issue. Don’t even care about the Wolverine fighting Thor in midair ridiculousness.

It was good to see the team handle business and the final drop at the end was cool.

Love how Bendis writes Osborne. 5/5

This is going to be a fun arc.

  11. i’m only on board with this for osborn and the dark avengers only. they should get their own book again with bendis/deodato.
i’m really enjoying this, but it is a 3/5 without question. very average considering the creative team.
will finish out the arc and hope for more dark avengers down the road a wayz

  12. Forget the countdown for AvX can I get a countdown for the end of Bendis, dude is repeating himself now, I read this already…

  13. This is the kind of comic I loved as a kid, and I am liking it a lot now, too!

I do wish Dr. Strange had more to do than pass out, and I wonder why Jessica didn’t leave the mansion in some other way, but besides those quibbles, a romp of an issue.

Wolvie rocked and I liked Spider-Man’s support role throughout.

  14. The most interesting character in this issue – Ragnarok, clone of Thor – was merely relegated to being a big punching bag throughout. Also, I just noticed that on the inside/summary page, they refer to Squirrel Girl as being a teenager? Suddenly my raised eyebrow raises even higher, recalling the implied Wolverine/Squirrel Girl relationship…

I think Bendis is a genius writer who very much needs to be challenged more. I’d say I’m looking forward to his new Avengers Assemble title, except I’m really worried his first big story will be yet another story of his which we have already seen.

  15. “Fist him!”. Any comic book that has that line AND the proper response is a 5/5 for that writing alone!! Otherwise this is a nice safe book. I don’t know why I love thd banter in this book.
