THE LONE RANGER #13

“Ghost Town”

The first in a series of single issue stories, and a perfect jumping on point. The Lone Ranger and Tonto come across a small Western town that harbors great suffering. That suffering resonates through time, to the Ranger’s own past, and to the future. Can the Lone Ranger and Tonto find a way to replace that suffering with hope?

  1. “Single issue stories”.

    Bravo, Dynamite! I’m on board.

  2. Lone Ranger has been a consistently good read for years now. I don’t understand why so many frustrated Jonah Hex fans and others seeking Westerns don’t give this book a try. Or maybe I do. I think Lone Ranger has a “corny” reputation, but if you think about, the idea of a renegade ex-Texas Ranger vigilante teamed with a Native American seeking redemption is really a fantastic baseline from which to tell stories.

I wonder if the upcoming movie will change the dynamic?

I saw that an omnibus of the previous volume by Matthews is being released, again, if I’m a Western fan, I’d think about picking it up. Great art, nice de-compressed storyline that would read great in that format.

  3. I loved the Wagner stuff then fell out of habit of reading. Maybe I’ll start picking this up again digitally with these one shot stories. Hopefully this series won’t get poisoned by the movie.

  4. Could have had a homage to the Lone Ranger movies by having him disguised as an old timer ! 😉
