  1. Just read the latest hardcover. Amazing. Unlike any other Marvel book I’ve read. Totally risky in that it eschews the fight an issue for back room business intrigue and character building.

Fear Itself got in the way of the Mandarian epic that Fraction is building too. Glad to see it is picking up all the strings from issue 26 up til Fear Itself.

    I love this book!

  2. @ tomistommy – “Ever since the end of Fear Itself?” Isn’t that, like, two issues?

    • This is truth. Those 2 issues were a whole lot better than anything I read during Fear Itself, though. I got about 3 issues in and dropped off. It’s just good to be able to get back to the larger story and the business aspects of Stark Resiliant.

    • I enjoyed the Fear Itself tie-in arc overall, but like tomistommy said, I’m glad they are back to the main story.

  3. Best superhero book being published.

    • In a week that Batman, Wonder Woman, Daredevil & Uncanny X-Force are being released, i think that is a very debatable suggestion:)

    • Not if he is only reading Ironman, which I assume is the case. No one reading Uncanny X-force, Bats, Wonder Woman, or Daredevil would call this the best superhero book being published. Maybe he is reading Fraction’s Thor.

    • Batman is really good, everything else is slightly overrated. But what do I know, you’re the ones who know everything.

    • OH WAIT! I just got my updated pdf of comic book fandom rules in my inbox! My bad, I was wrong! It clearly states the way I’m supposed act if I want to be a true fan of comics! Allrighty then: Rick Rememender, Snyder, and Azz are gods and I worship everything they write! Also, Fraction sucks and his writing is full of plot holes! oh and Liefeld can’t draw! And DC is giving another book to JT KRUL!!!?? He’s terrible! Man, Catwoman and Red Hood sure are sexist! Oh look everyone, the 90s are back at DC! How about that forced racism in Firestorm? I can’t believe we lost Secret Six for this crappy Suicide Squad! Daredevil sure is fun again! I love Grant Morrison! Grant Morrison doesn’t make any since! I love Grant Morrison! Lois Lane looks funny in Action.

    • Talk about taking some good natured ribbing a bit too far…

    • It was just meant for glwarm, and it was suppossed to be funny.

    • I’m glad you received my email SmoManCometh. Sometimes the comic book fan rules get lost in the spam folder. I also agree, Morrison doesn’t make any “since” at all. On a serious note, I’m more disappointed with Fraction’s current work than hating on it. I loved Fraction’s early Iron-man work, his run on Iron Fist with Brubaker, and Casanova. Fraction once was one of my favorite writers and his name alone demanded my money. Unfortunately, Fraction’s X-men run was caught between Second Coming and Aaron’s Schism, so it never got off the ground. Invincible Iron-man lost it’s way during the reliance arc and is still struggling to find it’s way back. Thor suffered from it’s lack of connection to Fear Itself and then it’s direct connection to the end of Fear Itself. The first few issues of Fear Itself were well done but the title quickly went off the rails. Fear Itself lacked the proper weight and consequences of a good event and also suffered from weak characterization. Sometimes a popular opinion is popular for a reason and not just a product of group think. I agree that the opinions of many are shaped by group think but not all.

    • I don’t care if someone doesn’t like Fraction, I didn’t care for fear itself either, but the notion that many have about fraction being a bad writer is tiresome and just plain wrong. I’ll agree that iron man’s fi tie-in went two issues too long but to suggest that someone couldnt possible enjoy this and his Thor over other things is insulting. It just seems people decided something for no reason and now it is accepted and it drives me up the wall. He gives u complex characters who act like humans do and respects ur intelligence to figure out why Emma is acting colder than she normally is written and people say they act out of character.

    • It is the tide of iFanboy. Believing Fraction is a terrible writer is an accepted notion. Perhaps he is the new JMS?

I will repeat myself. This book is one of the riskiest mainstream superhero books. It is well-written but it lacks what the common reader wants: action every issue. People do not have patience for the book or probably any book for that matter that is long on character and short on people attacking each other.

Funny thing is they want “stories that matter” but in comics characterization often lasts longer than jailed villains and death.

So this comic matters a great deal to the CHARACTER of Stark.

It is like some crazy indie book about building an idealistic business in the wake of being tied to the military machine and blood money.

This book is awesome and I don’t give a shit if it is better than Batman, Daredevil, Wonderwoman or Uncanny X-Force.

  4. I agree the Fear Itself tie-in were good just not as good as these last 2.Looking forward to future issues.

  5. Fear Itself really derailed an outstanding book. Glad to see it’s back to its usual quality…Fraction really seems to have a good grip on Tony Stark, and the villains couldn’t be more…villainous? Great book!
