  1. Apparently a full scan of this issue has been leaked online…i just read what happens on a gaming forum (apparently) and i’m not sure how I feel about it…

  2. Can’t wait to read this. DONT SPOIL IT PLEASE! at least until the issue is actually out.

  3. Can’t wait for this, I thought I had the twist all figured out but the Norman Osborn bit thrown in last issue has me unsure now.

  4. I hate this. just hate it. everything about it.

that being said i’ll be my brand new dodge charger that in 6 months or less we see Amazing Spiderman #1 just like the Uncanny Xmen title that was just announced.

  5. SWEET MOTHER OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!!! Accidentally stumbled on spoilers. Slott wasn’t kidding when he said he might have to go into hiding

    • Whereas I saw the spoiler and thought “That’s it?”

Unfortunately, unless #699 & 700 bring about even bigger surprises and revelations, I predict the status quo will be restored by issue #6 or 7 of Superior Spider-Man. Pity, because I like the updated costume…

    • I don’t get the nerd rage over this, if Dan Slott hadn’t made a big deal about it, i think most people would have just thought “oh, this is a story”. it’s a neat idea too, reminds me a bit of a certain Marvel team book.

it’s comics, nothing is forever, why would this be any different?

  6. I’m in through #700.

After that I’m jumping off due to funds, but I expect continued greatness.

  7. Loved it. Did NOT see that coming…

  8. I wish Rivera was doing the interiors.

  9. I was like “What… wait, how? WHAT!?” I had to re-read the last couple of pages to make sure I got what Slott was implying. Pretty mental.

  10. I was not expecting that at all. I re-read the whole issue straight afterwards and it is staring you in the face all the way through. Very smartly written. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens in the future 🙂

  11. A little disappointed by the big twist. There’s two more issues for this to play out so I’ll still give it a chance, but I was hoping for something much more 🙁

  12. i really liked the big twist. I was actually surprised!

    NON- SPOILER

i was pretty sure he was just going to kill someone close to Peter, so i’m glad he went a different way.

  13. I’m giving this 5 stars for the bold and clever choice in storytelling. I was fearing much worse, but the big plot twist is very f*cked up and -gasp- changes everything without resorting to one of the, by now, oldest hoariest cliches in superhero comics. I’m excited to see how this situation plays out and it does make room for all kinds of new plots that would not be possible with the previous status quo. Naturally, it will all be reverted in the future, but I think this is going to be lots of fun while it lasts. This is a ‘key’ issue, fearless reader, don’t miss out!

    Well done, Monsieur Slott!

  14. WOW. I kinda had a feeling that this is what was going to happen as a poster on another site guessed this a while ago and made a strong case, but I’m shocked by the execution on this and how it happened. There are still a lot of questions thought….

    **SPOILERS BELOW**
    ***************************

The biggest question being how long as Ock been in Peter’s body?! When I heard rumor of this being what happens I just assumed it would be in this issue but this seems to suggest he’s been in there for a while….maybe since Ends of the Earth? Hopefully we find out.

  15. I gasped. audibly. Well done, Slott.

  16. I thought it was a pretty ‘meh’ reveal, but almost exclusively because I’ve seen it touted as the new status quo. I read the Clone Saga, I read Dark Avengers, I’ve seen “other guy is Spider-Man!” status quo several times, I’m really just waiting to see how this one is different. I’m not foolish enough to believe that it’s really a new status quo, but I also would be much happier if this was part 1 of 3 (or however many), some tangible amount to see how long they’ll drag it along.

    • You don’t see how this is different? This isn’t Venom masquerading as Spider-Man… This is someone else being PETER. That opens up a whole lot of intgeresting stuff.

  17. I havent read Spidey in a while so i dont know but the “twist” didnt make any sense in the context of the issue. I am completely confused.

    • It hasn’t been explained yet. As is stated plainly in the issue. It is the prologue of a muc longer story that – I presume – will explain it.

  18. Jumping back in with Spidey with this issue, been off since spider-island. I really enjoyed the reveal and excited to see were this goes. I know were not suppose to know how it happened, but does anyone have a idea when the body switching took place? Anyway this was great shock to me because I didn’t read any spoilers before hand so I was blown away and happy about the shock ending. Should get some kick ass stories from this-4/5 glad to be back on again

  19. It’s not exactly a game changer, but what it is is a great issue of Spider-Man, setting up a classically fun story. Good stuff, this, but then, no surprise there.

  20. Apparently using that villain in 3 prior issues, must have fueled Slott to tread where no one should tread AGAIN!
Just WOW , , , really? Feels like this will be a year long thing. Hopefully I’m wrong and it’s just a short story arc.

  21. SO GOOD! This was a great issue top to bottom, I did not see the twist coming and in retrospect it makes total sense. So great, I was really floored by this issue, five stars.

  22. I’m sorry I don’t understand the appeal of Dan Slott on Spiderman. Everything feels stupid to me (no shots just saying). Someone please explain.

  23. Great issue and an OMG moment for me! I guess this is where Superior Spider-man comes in and Doc (peter) rides off into the sunset with MJ.

  24. Didn’t like it. Will not be reading Superior Spider-Man or any Spider title till Peter is back.

    • What if they kill Peter?

    • Kind of an extreme reaction, don’t you think? It’s not like this is going to be the permanent status quo. And there might be a few interesting stories to come out of it.

    • I kind of hope they kill “Peter” and have Osborn do it and never find out it was not really Peter. This would be one of the greatest bazinga’s of all time!

    • Just a thought. I think the cover of #699 has Morbius holding spider-man (Doc Oc) over his head. What if he kills him (doc) and peter who is trapped in Doc’s body just simply dies. Then Osborn comes back for spider-man’s funeral and then takes over as the “superior spider-man”?

    • Well based on the preview Peter is in ASM #700….

  25. I really do hope he is not the superior spider man

    • I’m with you, I hope someone else takes up the mantle! Also, as I stated above, I would find it really funny if Norman Osborn kills “Peter” and then moves on with his life and stops being a dick. Kind of like what Lex claims he would do if he finally killed Superman.

  26. Haha, excellent! This is what I thought/hoped would happen! Should be a fun ride!

  27. I gotta say I did not see this one coming either…I was convinced Slott was going to kill off MJ when Slott said he was going to have to go into hiding. Man I am super pumped to see what will happen. Well done Mr. Slott, well done.

  28. Maybe they are taking Peter Parker out of the Marvel universe for a while like what they did with the Flash at DC. SInce he is no longer in the Ultimate Spider-Man and It kind of looks like thats what’s happening with Amazing Spider-Man.

  29. Wow, I didn’t see this coming at all. I just read it and can’t believe I was able to avoid any spoilers since they have been out for a while. Nice twist that is for sure. I am anxious to see where this series leaves everything when it ends.
