  1. Only Super book I’m reading; but I’ll drop the second Mahmud Asrar is replaced.

    • What is it about his art, because I seem to be missing it? I’m glad they are able to keep the same artist since issue #1, I think it helps a book develop it’s own style. I just don’t see the massive appeal this guy’s art has on others.

    • Just a speculation, but Supergirl is a title that probably wouldn’t sell terribly well (and, according to figures, it really doesn’t). However, they placed the right artist on the book at the right time and seem fairly committed to keeping him there. His art in another book might not be enough to make a difference, but in a book that needs that distinction, it does the job.

I will admit that I am a fan of both the story and the art, it is one of the books I look forward to each month (although I didn’t read H’EL), but I am not crazy in love with the art, it just serves a good purpose.

    • I am honestly shocked that Asrar hasn’t been poached by another publisher yet. He has a wonderfuly dynamic and textured style that really sets this book apart from the rest of the DC superhero line. I’ve been a longtime Superman reader and collecter, and literally collect everything he shows up in, but when Asrar finally leaves, I’ll have to seriously consider whether I need this title anymore.

    • I’m super into the story so far. She has her own Fortress under the Ocean … Silver Banshee’s brother … public misconceptions of her … and she sacrificed any chance to rebuild her home planet to save ours. The current story where she and PG are going crazy because they are proximal to each other is rather corny and trite. But on the whole this series has delivered a good storyline.

    • It’s a solid book. I think you really need to read an issue to appreciate the artwork if it doesn’t appeal to you on the surface. The worst thing (and it’s probably not his fault) is the crap outfit.

  2. I’m very scared of something happening to Kara

    • Wasn`t there another cover before with Kara lying in Power Girls (I think that`s who it was) arms or did Editorial scrap that one for this one?

  3. I’ve loved this book. It’s much better than Superboy, imho. She’s had a pretty independent life. Has a good friend and an HQ. I hope they don’t do anything crazy with her as well. Ok…fine. Maybe a little crazy.

  4. I was originally going to give this a try next month with the new writer coming on board. But then saw Powergirl was in so picked it up.

  5. I’m totally diggin” Supergirl and this was another good issue. Still the best “Super” book out there.
