  1. Hell yeah! Can’t wait!

  2. This has been my favorite series for a long time. Can’t wait to find out how it all went down this Wed. I hope Jason Aaron creates some new original material soon, because both Scalped and The Other Side were great!

  3. I have never simultaneously wanted to have a book so much and yet wanted it to never come. Unless there is somehow (doubtfully) some gargantuan misstep for the first time then this will be 60 perfect issues of a truly perfect series.

  4. “You got to stick the landing”

That Jpsh’s opening salvo in this POTW review of the final episode/ issue of Fear Agent. A book that I only discovered because of this site… this community. And Scalped is as well a series that I would never have experienced without this same connective thread.

Just over 4 weeks ago, I started from Scalped #1 and ran through what @COMICBOOKGUY correctly described as ‘a truly perfect series”. He is right. There is not one false note. The story told was as perfect as the issue 50 they dropped. Not since Sandman has I been thinking “has the final issue been dropped this week?”. Perhaps even more so, as I was not a fan of the Kindly Ones.

But I am waiting WITHOUT expectation of story or worry. In Aaron I trust.

  5. I love this series, it’s going to be a big loss. I can’t wait to read this though, I know it’s going to be just perfect. I’m also lucky enough to own the original artwork to that cover so I’ll have a permanent trophy from this series on my wall.

  6. this is my favourite series of all time. really hope the end lives up to the rest of the series.

    gonna miss this one.

  7. Avatar photo Jacen Chris (@jcbhatestweeter) says:

Today is the first day I don’t want to pick up my books in a long time. Scalped has been, to me, what Preacher was to Vertigo kids in the 90’s.

    It’s just bittersweet.

  8. I’ve re-read the whole series a volume a day leading up to this. This morning I read the first four issues of “Trail’s End.” Just this moment I finished Issue 60. I felt very emotional at the end, lump in my throat and all. This truly was MY Preacher (replacing Preacher, itself, which had been my Preacher beforehand). A wonderful, wonderful end to a series that I absolutely adore.

  9. Yeah I just read the end as well. I didn’t get into the series until recently and caught up with the trades and single issues right before the release of issue 59. I’m not sure if I could have waited in suspense from month to month, honestly. Every issue was almost always intense as hell and ended with some crazy cliffhanger. Definitely one of the best long form series I have ever read. A very satisfying ending to a new flawless run.

  10. I picked up the first three issues from my LCS way back when and have been here every month since. It’s not hyperbole when people claim there was not a single bad or even mediocre issue in this series. With this finale, until the last pages, Aaron, Guerra & co. keep up the suspense, and finally give us the only ending this series could ever really have, but one that I nonetheless didn’t see coming. It’s beautiful and it’s perfect and I’ll miss the hell out of this world – until I can find the time to sit down with issue #1 again. 5/5

Kudos and thanks for the all years of excellence, fellas.

  11. Absolutely beautiful issue. Was a little confused at the beginning and it took me a while to realize that the loner was Red Crow, but all in all a wonderful way to end the series. 5/5 and if it weren’t for the perfection of Morrison/Burnham this would certainly be POTW.

  12. I wish i could give this 6 stars.

  13. I’m confused at how this is at 55% pick of the week, but it has 1/3 as many people pulling it as Batman Inc. Can someone who’s smart explain?

    • Let’s say there are 300 users, all of whom pull Batman, and 100 of whom pull Scalped.

Now let’s say all 100 pick Scalped as their POTW, while of the other 200, 10 pick Batman, 90 pick other things(A Spider-man here, an X-men there, whatever), and 100 do not pick anything at all.

That means 200 people have made their POTW, and 50% of that has been Scalped POTWs.

Obviously the actual numbers are a bit more complicated than that, but that’s a simplified version that shows how it is possible.

(Not that I claim to be smart!)

  14. I’m currently reading this in trade (I’m on Vol.3). Glad to hear the positive reviews. The story and art fit perfectly together. Scalped has been great entertainment thus far!

  15. This was my first issue of Scalped, and I am definitely picking up all the trades. Before anyone asks why I spoiled it for myself, isn’t it about the journey and not the destination?

  16. It will definitely be an ironic journey for you. Let us know how it goes. I am now in mourning for my favorite story.
