  1. Curious about this book, I’d consider picking it up, if it was a light week for me, but, it isn’t. Maybe I’ll pick it up later if I hear good things . . .

  2. I’m aware of the legend Howard Chaykin, but I never got around to checking out his work. I have heard nothing but good things from iFanboy and I have a super light week.

  3. I’m going to be very tentative about this book, as both creators are extremely hit and miss for me. When they’re firing on all cylinders, they’re brilliant. When they slip, they slip…hard. First issue will solely determine whether I come back for a second (or third, fourth, etc) serving.

  4. I would be super excited about this simply based off of the description and setting. The incredibly talented creators are icing on the cake.

  5. I’m a little surprised by the lukewarm comments here. I thought this would be a sure fire hit. Fraction, Chaykin, what more do you need?

  6. I moderated a panel with Howard last summer at Comicpalooza in Houston. He said he was working on a mystery with Fraction and it was the most exciting collaboration he’s ever done. Cannot explain how pumped i am for this.

    • I went to a panel he was at in March, he said he knew what he was doing all the way to June. Sounded a little down. Guess this came up sometime in the interim.

    • When he talked to me about it Fraction hadn’t even come up with a title. All they had was a very loose skeleton of a plot

  7. Please Chaykin, no more dicks!

  8. Ahh… lol no more black kisses eitherI

  9. Good lord this was great

  10. This was really, really good. Some of the best Chaykin art I’ve seen in a long time. My only prior experience was with his superhero stuff, which doesn’t fit his style at all. It was perfect here.

  11. JML (@twitter.com/JoshMLabelle) says:

This was great! Pick of this kind of crappy week for sure. The only other thing I picked up — Avengers — was totally workmanlike.

  12. I thought this was a little dull. Maybe because the entire issue was just leading up to what we already knew was going to happen, it’s right there on the cover!

3/5, dunno if I’ll be back next issue

  13. This needed a better letterer and a better artist. I couldn’t tell who was speaking because of the awful lettering and all of the characters look pretty much the same.

  14. I know Mr Fraction was going for the chaotic nature of a live action studio but it really detracted from the story he was trying to tell I felt. It was tedious working through a bunch of the background noise he was writing in order to get to the actual story. I enjoyed Chaykin’s art though. It was the best I had seen from him in quite some time. 3.5/5
