  1. So there I was browsing this weeks releases thinking there was nothing much I was interested in, nothing particularly special until….BAM.

So excited for this. Been too long since the last one.

  2. Finally!!! :~)

  3. Also, this is the issue centred around The Long Blondes character, which is fantastic as I love(d) the Long Blondes! Looking forward muchly (if you couldn’t tell from my first comment.)

  4. This is probably going to be pick of the week.  What a great book and all of the music references really make this an experience comic.

  5. Every ish of this series has been my POW so far.

  6. Yay!

  7. Damn you Jamie Mckevie! and your amazingly drawn woman! Stop making me fall in love with every girl in the books!

  8. Hopefully it’s back on track for the final three, really excited for the bumper Kid with Knife issue.

I just wish this series was at a level where Kieron & Jamie could do it full-time…

  9. Hello Phonofolk!

It’s very much the Kitten and Gillen week, as the first issue of my new Marvel S.W.O.R.D. launches this week. It’s Steve Sanders (FIVE FISTS OF SCIENCE) and myself as the lead story, but the first issue has a back up story by McKelvie and Me (The first story we’ve done together for Marvel, for the record). And Phonocolourist Matt Wilson provides hues throughout. If you like Phonogram and are interested in a pop-action comic, I suspect you’ll enjoy SWORD.

    The IFanboy page!

    The 6 page preview.

    Hurrah for comics!

  10. @KieronGillen: Did you ever consider putting (if its mentioned in the next 3 issues, sorry) Bat for Lashes  "What’s a Girl to Do?" as one of the songs that the issues are best around or mention it/them at all? It came out around when the story takes place and in 06 I was all about that song. Are you guys fans?

  11. Yeah, I like Bat for Lashes, but don’t believe there’s anything of her in it. That said, Indie Dave being in Brighton now would give a bloody good excuse.

  12. From twitter: Phonogram 2.5 pulped due to barcode mishaps. Out next week, apparently. Party still on, obv.

  13. Yes – comic should be here next week, apparently. Somehow the wrong barcode was attached to it. We are having a party at the Prince Arthur near Euston on Thursday though, since SWORD is still out.

  14. Fuuuuuuuuuccckk!!!

  15. This saddens me. 🙁

  16. @:(

  17. oh dearie me

  18. This…this cannot be.

  19. The beret and the curves and the…

    Sorry. Thinking out loud.

  20. noooooooo

  21. Got it last week thanks to my wonderful LCS. Didn’t even have to ask for it. 😀

I wasn’t enthralled by the backup, but I appreciate it’s change of pace from the main story, and they are there for experimentation. However, the main story was just incredible, heavy hitting stuff; really interesting character. This issue alone justifies the format of this arc, best comic being published atm (if intermittently, ;{P).

It would have been my potw last week in what was a good week for me, but this week when there’s nothing I’m really interested in, it’s a cert.

  22. @ PaulMontgomery you ain’t the only one

  23. God knows what Laura would say to those comments. Well – she’d say a Long Blondes quote. But you know what I mean.

  24. i’ve read his Marvel stuff, it’s been pretty "bleh."  Makes me want to never read this.

  25. Fucking LOVED the essay in the back. Great book!

  26. Love it love it love it. The back matter was especially good in this issue.

  27. Finally got a copy and now I’ve read it, it’s pick of the week in any week. Marvellous stuff. Gimme more
