This series is the best thing to come out of post-Civil War Marvel, and I don’t actually mean that as faint praise. Superheroing from a middle-management perspective, with a nice dash of Hollywood satire. And Henry Hellrung is the best new character to come along in comics in years.
It’s too bad that Fraction chose to end it, but I can sort of see why.
To the iFanbase: BUY THIS TRADE!…..please…..
I think it’s kind of weird that this trade collects issues 1-7. The series is ending in four more issues, so that means there’s going to be another, smaller trade. Why didn’t they just wait to collect the whole run? I’m sure they’re probably going to do that. Right?
I’m interested in picking this up, but I don’t want to spend the extra money if the whole thing will be traded later.
@Neb – I’m not sure that info is right on issues 1-7; the Amazon listing says 1-6, and if they changed it at all, I think they would have gone down to 5/5. Either that, or the numbers are so bad they have no intention of releasing the whole thing, so they figure anyone who wants it can get the trade then get right on issue — Watch the reviews tomorrow, I’ll try to clear up what’s really in the trade.
@ohcaroline- Hmm…that’s interesting. I was basing my info off of Marvel’s website, but then again, it could have changed and they just didn’t update it there. I’ll check the trade when I’m in the store to see what it is…if it’s something that makes sense like 1-5 or 1-6, I’ll definitely pick this up.
I have known the company websites to get the trade info wrong, though now that I say it, I can’t think of an example. I don’t expect logic out of Marvel marketing, though, so who the hell knows.
Fraction said last week it was #1-5, and I can confirm that after picking it up today.
Yeah, I picked this up today. I only had time to read the first three issues, but it is really, really good. I’ll post a review when I get done with the trade. Definitely glad to have spent my money on this.
@Neb — Awesome! I’d love to see some reviews of this trade. It’s definitely been one of my favorite things about comics over the past year.
