NEW MUTANTS #14

“SECOND COMING”, CHAPTER ELEVEN

The X-Men are losing the battle against the Nimrods and Cyclops knows it. Desperate times call for desperate measures and no measure is more desperate than enlisting a mutant with multiple personalities, each possessing its own power. That’s right, Legion is let out of prison to fight on the X-Men’s side.

  1. Still having fun.  I’m really excited for where this will leave the X-men.

  2. Hey look, its a generic cover with awkward faces.

  3. your face is awkward:p

  4. Wonder Twin powers activate! Not looking fondly to this book, but we’ll see how it goes. I’m curious to see where it goes, though.

  5. enjoying the story. hating the covers.

  6. Are the Granov covers going to quit happening once Second Coming is over? Because, dayum, they’re terrible.

  7. It’s not getting bad, per se, but I am glad that this is probably going to have to end fairly soon. Starting to feel a bit of fatigue.

  8. Thank God, the last issue of New Mutants I have to buy!

  9. Loving the New Mutant series. Only let downs to me was the last part to the Return of Legion arc, the siege tie in, and Dani’s outbursts (okay the first outburst with Cable & Hope was fine, but the one during the meeting in X-Force #27 went too far. Geez she needs to act like a leader). To me the last few issues did not feel like a New Mutants’ issue. Hope the other New Mutants will get the spotlight other than Dani and Cypher. One final note, how long does it take for Magneto to rest? God they need him out there.

  10. This entire crossover has been a solid 4 for me.  I’m very happy that Carey and Kyle/Yost get to close it out.

  11. Liking the crossover a lot. Ever DCBS delivery (every 2 weeks) I grab those first and read them. After several solid Granov covers that had some interesting things going on, we get a solid example of the sort of things people (and by people I mean me) dislike about Granov covers. Stiff, shiney mannequins with odd plastic faces. This would not make me pick it up off a shelf.

  12. I wanna see James Jean do a superhero cover.

  13. Hey! This wasn’t a flaming pile! While it didn’t really move much forward, it moved and felt all around tighter than the event has been in 6 issues. Loved the Legion scenes (even if I’m perplexed by how he’s back from the dead… again.) interesting use of the concept. Though the ideas behind the personalities could use a little work. It’s nice to see Colossus face a threat he couldn’t just pummel, too. 4/5 for me and finally picking up going into the closing.

  14. This characterization of Cypher doesn’t really match with how he was portrayed earlier in the event. Maybe the few minutes he’s been with X-Force has rubbed off on him?

Not bad, but still not great. I feel sorry for Toad’s finger.

  15. My comic shop has sold out of this book by 6pm on Wednesday for the past three months. AHHHHH!

  16. Love Nathan Fox’s art in this.

  17. @Prax Legion came back at the start of this New mutants run.

@Drake The characterization fits with how he has been in the NM book especially how he returns from the dead.

  18. While I groaned mightily when we switched from the sweeeet art in the Legion scenes to the regular artist, I fucking loved this issue. Which is saying a lot ’cause I was getting real tired of this crossover as of late.

  19. Great issue.  Minus a Fraction issue or two, this crossover has been huge success
