  1. Wednesday can not get here fast enough! Can not wait to see Cap and Cyclops battle it out!! This is my first major event ever and I can not be more excited! Although because i just started reading Marvel, i am undecided at this point, so for now, lets go Cap! Btw..what are some essential readings for both avengers and x-men?

    • I’d buy the New Avengers omnibus from Amazon when it comes out later this year. Think it is close to forty issues of content.

    • Marvel released a preview issue a few weeks ago and listed these books as recommended reading.

      1. X-Men: Dark Phoenoix Saga
      2. Avengers: Disassembled
      3. House of M
      4. X-Men: Messiah Complex
      5. X-Force/Cable: Messiah War
      6. X-Men: Second Coming
      7. Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis Volume 1
      8. New Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis Volume 1
      9. Uncanny X-Men: Birth of Generation Hope
      10. Avengers: The Children’s Crusade
      11. X-Men: Schism
      12. Avengers vs. X-Men: It’s Coming

  2. Eh…I think I’ll get this. I have no interest in following the whole Iron Fist Phoenix thing (and have actually dropped this title awhile back), but this seems to instead be Prologue #18038945-8 to Avengers Vs X-Men instead of the start of the seemingly contrived storyline. I love these little character issues that Bendis writes.

  3. There’s a preview online that shows this awesome scene of every single Avenger stuffed in the dinning room of A mansion.
    This issues gonna rock.

  4. i’m excited for this. and the iron phoenix thing.
gonna be disappointed if logan goes with cyke.
wouldn’t that make schism for nothing?

  5. I really should catch up on my Avengers reading.

    Probably during May.

  6. Up until FI, I actually enjoyed the Avengers tie-ins to events. And hopefully with no Osborn, HAMMER, and Dark Avengers this book can start to become pre-renumbering quality again.

Also, I really liked Deodato on Dark Avengers and Secret Avengers, but his work on New Avengers just doesn’t sit right with me.

    • i feel ya ’bout deodato’s current work. it’s rushed and a lil’ sloppy.
i believe the aforementioned titles he worked on were monthly titles.
i’d be willing to wait the extra two weeks for better quality.
but sloppy work equals more books equals more money.
      the bottomless bottom line.
corporate american craftsmanship at it’s best. it’s not fuckin’ fantastic. it’s just good enough.

    • Are you saying you dident like the FI tie in that was all about Squirrel Girl?!?!?!
      THAT ISSUE WAS AMAZING!

    • @sitara
      well put.

  7. Dropped this book about 6 months ago, but I’ll pick this issue up to see what happens next! Not committing to buying this title full-time though.

  8. This issue had very little to do with the Avengers vs. X-Men and was mostly an epilogue to the whole Dark Avenger debacle.

  9. I was duped! I can’t believe I didn’t flip through this at the store. It was fine, but not what I was expecting. I don’t read this book and thought that the cover might match the insides. I should know better by now.

    • i am so HAPPY that i did flip through this beforehand and ultimately decided against it.
      definitely the right CHOICE.
      the cover IS soooo misleading.
i WAS looking forward to this.
      shame.

  10. I bought this against my better judgement. I will have to read it and see if I got burned. If so, Marvel’s stock is gonna drop in my eyes. Again.

  11. Why didn’t I just skip this? I guess I figured it’d tie in more to the whole AvX thing. Silly me, it was a wrap up to the last shitty arc that made me drop this book from my pull list in the first place…

  12. So a thought on Jessica Jones and Luke Cage: Don’t you think, at some point, they would have referred to their child by, you know, its name? Instead of just constantly, panel after panel, calling it “the baby?”

Does BMB just not know the name of Luke and Jessica’s kid? Did I miss something here? I don’t know, I just can’t imagine parents go a whole day without calling their child by its name, even once.

    • No.

Really listen to how most people who are close interact and you will see they rarely call each other by their real names.

Nicknames, pet names: kid, little one, baby

    • you are not wrong. it happens.
however, in my experience, parents often refer to their new born child as “the baby” amongst themselves in text, on the phone or in person. it’s between 1yr and 2yrs old when they start getting into everything that you really start referring to them by name. screaming their name might be more accurate. lol.
that’s also around the time parents start referring to each other as “momma” and “daddy” ALL the time.
it’s sexy, empowering and weird all at the same time.
      it’s awesome.

    • the baby’s name is Danielle if i remember correctly.

  13. The complaining . . . people post with such authority on comics yet somehow the marketing strategies continue “to take advantage” of these know-it-all readers.

Stop buying comics likes fools and maybe you won’t be so angry.

  14. I liked this. It didn’t have a lot to do with AVX, but it had some. I would have given it a 4 if it was 2.99 or more than 20 pages.

  15. I felt I could have just read this instead of AVX #1.

    • I am probably the only person in the world that thinks Romita Jr. shouldn’t be drawing main events like AVX haha

  16. EXCELLENT issue. Truly indicative of this New Avengers series lately…brilliant character issues, and forgettable overall arcs. Glad I picked this up, though I’m gonna go back to ignoring this.

  17. I thought it was okay. My real problem is, I’ve only been mildly interested in the Luke Cage/Jessica Jones dynamic, while it is clear that Bendis is freakin’ obsessed with it! When I turned that page and saw the giant one-shot of them standing next to each other with ALL that dialogue wrapped around their bodies… I put the book down and went to bed. Then, over breakfast, I picked it back up and read the scene – and it read like so many other scenes between these two. Only now they sound sillier, because they are arguing about something they should have put away years ago.

  18. I forgot to grab this at my store on Wednesday and then I called them to see if they had a copy left to pull for me and they said they we’re sold out. I told them to order me a copy and/or maybe I can find one at the C2E2 this weekend. I went on Saturday with some friends and family and we had such a fun time. The Cosplay was on high especially the X-Men characters and a lot of Zombies which; seem to be the in thing right now. I forgot all about looking for this issue and I never got to read it so I un pulled it for now and will eventually get a copy. Sounds like mixed reviews from all of my friends here at IFanBoy….

  19. They got it for me and I just finished reading it and I liked the feel of being in with the Avengers however; I must agree the Cage thing was just really, really annoying.
