  1. that cover has me really worried for Luke

  2. I really loved the two issues I’ve gotten of this title so far, but I’m dropping it. Bendis is such a strong writer (I’ve never much understood his appeal before this comic) but with no back material, no reprints, nothing extra, and Bendis style making this feel like such a brief read, I just can’t justify the $3.99 price tag.

    Hopefully the trade makes this a little more feasible title, monetarily speaking.

  3. i still dont feel this book is back on track to when it was first released 4 years ago. i really miss those new avengers

  4. I love this book. The team is still pretty much intact.

    Captain America, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, Ronin, Spider-Man, Wolverine.

    That is six of the original team just not the same Captain America, Spider-Woman or Ronin, hahaha

  5. it has lost a little special something in the last 4 years

  6. It’s been he leading book for the endless cycle of events running through Marvel and it has dragged this book down.

  7. Just want to say I’m bored to shit with this book, but I love Stuart Immonen’s.

    @conor – When was the last time you guys mentioned New Avengers? I’d love to know what you think of Immonen. There’s certainly a love it or hate it quality to it. So which side do you fall on?

  8. @Conor- Says the DC fan! 😀

    How’s Justice League been?

    New Avengers has been consistently awesome for years, Marvel’s leading book!

  9. personally, I think this book rarely disappoints.  there is something worthwhile in every issue of this book.  for my tastes, every artist that has been on the book has been excellent too.

  10. I don’t feel it’s been dragged down at all by the stream of the events in the Marvel U.  I think this book is more the heartbeat of the Marvel U.  You could only read this book and have a great understanding of what’s going on.  Plus it’s the old ‘more bang for your buck’ concept.  A great and mixed cast of characters in the title.

  11. @KickAss
    Shhhh.

    @conor
    While I agree with that, I do feel that the book has returned to form with Immonen coming on.

    @RoiVampire
    If you read the NA The List issue, you know what happened to Luke.

  12. I don’t know, Bendis is an alright writer, but with this title, it just seems pretty bland. It’s like, I want to get it to know what happens and to know if it leads into something big, but I’m not satisfied with the execution of it. Meh, what ever.

  13. @FACE: I love Immonen. One of my favorites.

  14. I haven’t been liking this arc too much, but I generally enjoy NEW AVENGERS. Neat cover too.

  15. I still love this book. It leaves some stinkers, but it is consistently one of the best books at Marvel.

  16. Immonen is’nt for me, and latley, I’ve felt the same way about the New Avengers.

  17. After 57 issues I can’t believe I am thinking of dropping this, but it is just nowhere near as strong as it once was.

    Also, maybe I missed something over the years, but what powers does Clint Barton have that would render him useless? Did Bendis overlook this?  Even when he was Goliath he needed the capsules to change size.

    Hopefully this book will come back to glory when this whole Dark Reign crapstorm is over.

  18. Immonen has brought this book back from the depths of mediocrity.

  19. The year dominated by Secret Invasion tie-ins took a lot of the fight outta me, but I have really gotten into the interplay between New and Dark Avengers. The last two or three issues have pulled me in, and this one reminded me of the good old days with a cliffhangery cherry on top.

  20. @robkristie   I think you can set the power drainer to normal humans and make them feel awful. From the way they used it it seems you have to program it for specific people before you turn it on, which is why mockingbird was the only one unaffected, they didn’t know she was on the team. At least thats what i’ve gathered. If the device drained all powers in the area then the villains wouldn’t have been able to even fight mockinbird last issue

  21. at the very least, the oddness of it working on Clint was acknowledged in the writing last issue.

     this issue was amazing.  what a conundrum they got themselves into.  and with what happened in the List issue, now they’re down two leaders.  and the Hood with more power! good stuff!

  22. I kind of get the idea that Clint’s not quite normal because he was Goliath and had other powers in the past.

     But anyway, what exactly did i miss? Why is Luke having a heart attack? Seriously, I’m not stupid and can read. Should i know what happening in this issue by reading this issue? Not a special one off tie-in?

     Not happy, Bendis. Stop dicking around with The Bendis Tapes and other press, with motion coimcs bullshit, with powers development deals and just write good comics agian.  please

  23. If Cage’s skin is impenetrable… how does oxygen get from his capilaries into his skin cells?

  24. @edward
    It happened during the fight; my guess is that, just like regular human-types, with great stress put upon the heart, it can go into arrest. Especially when it receives the shock of this stress where it used to be so protected by Cage’s invulnerability. Also, we’re all gonna enjoy it if Powers gets turned into a movie or show, especially Bendis’ bank account. What you just asked of him was to quit going to work so he can hang out with you.

    I really don’t get the low-ish rating on this series lately: I am loving this arc.

    Tiny Bucky Nitpick of the Month: He wouldn’t have forgotten his gun (if that’s what happened), he’s a soldier for crissakes.

  25. Immonen is fantastic. I hardly care about this title but Immonen makes me read it every month.

  26. @Captbastard: firstly, i think the thing with gun is a set-up for something coming because your right, he is captain america, he wouldn’t forget he’s gun

    Secondly, how the hell does someone as old as luke and as fit as Luke have a heart attack… unless the dude is on steroids… which would actually be cool, if one superhero admitted to steroid abuse and just being a vain boby-image obsessed weirdo

  27. @captbastard  Mockingbird still has his gun i’m pretty sure. she took it last issue when Bucky was all wonky from the device. She even commented on what how awesome it was. She probably still has it and just hasn’t had time to go "Oh hey Cap, here’s your gun back."

  28. @RoiVampire
    Right, I forgot about that (and still don’t remember it, but I’ll take your word; if I reread it down the line and it doesn’t happen that way, I’mma come git you)

    @edward
    It can happen. His body was experimented on, which gave him the powers, so the results of that could have caused stress on the heart, but the powers he got prevented an arrest… maybe?

  29. @edward  He might be at high risk for heart failure because of his family medical history but the powers always kept it in check. once they got turned off it might have been more than his body could handle. Plus luke is the only one who is sitting up and trying to move around, everyone else is passed out or lying down. He probably should have just laid down and tried not to stand up but Luke is a fighter. He probably strained his heart too much fighting against the device.

  30. Im digging the… now that I think about it there is not a whole lot im digging about this title.  I think ill give it a few more issues but your on the knife Bendis.  And Immomen really not digging the art looks to rushed or perhaps its the style but Im new to immomens art and not really for me

  31. maybe Luke just takes heap of drugs

  32. @RoiVampire
    If it was family medical history, that’d be hilarious and anti-climactic.

  33. I want to know why Clint is down when he has no powers? And Bendis writes a horrible Bucky Cap.

    But everything else was awesome.

  34. I was going to give this a 4/5 but that beat down Spidey gave Normie…good stuff.
