Great Book, Great Cover

love the insidious nature of our famed mighty hero in this story. the last issue was terrifying on their trip to space.
Been loving this book. Tomasi is one of the better story tellers out there.
It just moves so slow. Ever since I got caught up with Irredeemable, that has seemed like the better good guy turns bad guy book for me.
This book never had a good guy turn bad. He’s always been bad. Very bad. Megalomaniacally bad.
I find this book fascinating. I don’t think I can clearly explain what I like about it. It just feels very claustrophobic to me. There is no where anyone can go to hide. Creepy and enjoyable.
@stuclah – DITTO. I can’t believe i’m still pulling this book! The book feels predictable, but it’s still a fun read.
Is this definately coming out? DC’s website says next week….
@magnum240 – Diamond and Comiclist both have it listed as this week. I hope they are right. Most of the rest of the books this week are pretty weak.
@stuclach: I disagree, this is the issue I am most on the fence about this week. I like The Mighty but Irredeemable is just more fun and I don’t know how much longer I can keep buying two books about the same damn thing. Although, it is kinda fun to compare them to one another, especially when they come out in the same week!!
@robbydzwonar – Unfortunately, my shop doesn’t order Irredeemable. Despite not reading Irredeemable, I understand that the stories are similar. I generally like Mark Waid’s work, so I can see why you might prefer his approach to this type of story. I will grab the trade when it comes out.
This gets creepier by the issue….
I will continue buying this until Tomasi is off. I love this and Irredeemable and the different approaches to the stories contrasting each other, it’s really a fantastic time for these type of stories. How long is this series supposed to be, is it an ongoing?
I didn’t like this one quite as much as the rest of the series. Not enough of Cole in my opinion.

I like the story so far. Tomasi is an awesome writer. Art is bland in my opinion.
@stuclach: I can’t compare this to Irremdeemable either. My LCS orders it but not enough copies. I bought issue #1 and haven’t seen anymore until #5 so I’m trade waiting.
@JesTr – The first trade (collecting 1-4) just came out a $10. I plan on ordering it ASAP.
Im bummed out just read this was a 12 issue season and if sells warant it, there is the possiblity for a season 2, Im loving this book! I think irredemable is good. But Im enjoying this as a different look at a hero being bad. Just was hoping it would be a ongoing!
I think this story is pretty unique in that the "Superman" character is bad, but still upholds the illusion that he is good. The sequence in this issue where he beats up a terrorist in front of the main character, all the while purposely incorrectly translating the terrorist’s is a much subtler and creepier take on this somewhat over played idea. It seems to me that is similar stories where a Superman type character is bad, corrupt, etc., it is usually very out in the open, like in Miracleman, The Authority, JLA 2, etc.
I love this book. In my opinion it’s way better than irredeemable.
