LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN III CENTURY 1969 #2

The long-awaited second chapter of Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen III: Century takes place almost sixty years later in the psychedelic daze of Swinging London during 1969, a place where Tadukic Acid Diethylamide 26 is the drug of choice, and where different underworlds are starting to overlap dangerously to an accompaniment of sit-ins and sitars. Alerted to a threat concerning the same magic order that she and her colleagues were investigating during 1910, a thoroughly modern Mina Murray and her dwindling league of comrades attempt to navigate the perilous rapids of London’s hippie and criminal subculture, as well as the twilight world of its occultists. Mina and her companions must prevent the making of a Moonchild that might well turn out to be the Anti-Christ.

  1. Holy Crap, its actually coming out?! Its about damn time!

  2. The hell you say

  3. what the hell? This is out? Why did I not know about it?!!!

  4. Oh I missed this, what a wonderful surprise in my LCS. 😀

  5. And now we get to wait another year or two for #3 YAY!  Though to be fair Alan is one of a very small cadre of writers who could possibly hold up an annual series plagued by 6 month delays.

  6. I think the one-shot OGN approch also helps the delay problem, because when it does come out you get a complete story, instead of waiting 6 months for another 22 page comic book.

  7. After neonomicon completed I was itching for an Alan Moore fix. Here it is!

  8. I wasn’t impressed.  Between the stories incomprihensibility, Mina and Quartermain making decisions I’d have only expected from teen-agers in a really bad slasher film, and Moore’s need to show us half the male cast’s equipment I’m only giving this a 1 because there’s nothing lower.

  9. The gay BJ on the first page turned me off from picking this up.  Maybe if it was later on in the book, but the first page was just too soon for me!

  10. @BCDX97  – would a hetero-one make it a better book? 🙂

I thought this was ok … I loved the last issue. Maybe it’s just that I enjoy vitorian era stories more than 60’s ones.

  11. @AmirCat  Yes, it would have!

I remember a gay BJ in Youngblood Bloodsport, but I don’t think it was on the first page.  It was in the first issue, because that was the only issue that ever came out.  And the dude was dressed as Cyclops, which made it better somehow.

  12. I’m halfway through this and have absolutey no clue what’s going on… it’s like living the 60s all over again*!

    *Wasn’t born until the 70s

  13. Who else loves the special guest star towards the end…

  14. 5/5. I loved 1910, but this just got me more. Kevin O’Neill is showcasing in this one. And things are left in such a state that I can’t see how the next one’s going to turn out.

  15. Strike that. I know exactly what the next one will play off of and I cannot wait.
