LADY MECHANIKA #2

HERE’S A NEW LADY IN TOWN!

From the imaginative mind of Joe Benitez with colors by the incomparable Peter Steigerwald, comes this all-new supernatural action-adventure series!

The tabloids dubbed her ‘LADY MECHANIKA’, the sole survivor of a psychotic serial killer’s three-year rampage through London. Found locked in an abandoned laboratory amidst countless corpses and body parts, with her own limbs amputated and replaced with mechanical components, her life began anew. With no memory of her captivity or her former life, LADY MECHANIKA eventually built a new life for herself as a private detective, using her unique abilities to solve cases the police couldn’t or wouldn’t handle. But, she has never stopped searching for answers… Now, disturbed by haunting memories from her past, LADY MECHANIKA is consumed by a need for answers and focuses all her efforts on investigating the mystery of the Mechanical Girl. The trail leads her to a traveling show run by a band of gypsies, where help might not come as easily as anticipated. But even with the aid of the Gypsy Queen, can LADY MECHANIKA discover who created the Mechanical Girl and why? And will the answers bring her one step closer to uncovering the truth about herself?

  1. I really hope people remember this series, the zero and 1st issue were pretty good.

  2. im gonna try it out.  i pulled the collected 0 and 1 issue also.  Looks interesting…

  3. Jumping on as I look to fill the void left by my soon to be departed Xombi and Secret Six.

  4. @kmob181  I’m jumping on too, but just out of curiosity, are you not going to try any of DC’s new 52?

  5. @dogprod – I don’t know.  It’s not that I’m annoyed with DC.  I understand they need to do what’s best for them overall.  It’s just that when it comes to the DCU I don’t read that much.  In fact, Secret Six and Xombi were the only 2 titles I was reading and none of the new solicits has grabbed me in the way either of these 2 have.  I do read a ton of Vertigo and thought I would be intrigued by some of the more Vertigo-esque offerings at the very least but surprisingly nothing really jumped at me as a must have yet.  So I guess that’s a long way of saying that as of this moment I don’t plan to pick up any of the new 52.

  6. It is about time this book is out.

  7. Seriously thought this was canceled.

  8. @kmob181  thats too bad.  im quite the opposite, most of my pull list is DC centric.  And I cant decide how many of the new 52 books I can afford.  At least half look interesting.  Not to go off topic though.  This looks very interesting to me.  At the last con I attended, I saw a lot of steam punk cosplay.  So color me curious…

  9. damn where has this book been

  10. @dogprod  I think the problem I’m having is that to buy a book I need the creative team and the character to sync and I’m not seeing that with the new DCU.  For example I like John Rozum but don’t care about Static Shock.  I like the Suicide Squad but the Glass/Rudy creative team leaves me cold.  It goes on…

  11. @kmob181  Im almost the same way:  I have to have at least 2 of the three catagories covered (artist/writer/character)  Thats why I cant wait for Lemire on Frankenstein and Animal Man, Capullo and Snyder on Batman, JHWilliams III on Batwoman, Rocafort on Red Hood, Milligan on Red Lanterns, & Snyder on Swamp Thing.  Of course peoples ;ikes and dislikes are subjective, so to each his own.  And I’ll trust you not to berate me for wanting to pick up Hawk and Dove for the Leifeld art… 🙂

  12. Man, I was worried it had been too long of a wait. But I was proven wrong, the book is gorgeous and I am even more intrigued with the creepy circus’ addition to the plot. That dude’s spider-robot butler was freaky and awesome all at once.

  13. I really enjoyed issue 1, but it’s been so long, I barely remember it. Stil, I’ll check this out.

  14. Too bad this book does not look as good as the covers.

  15. Joe Benitez is an amazing artist.  I wish I had bought 0 and 1 when they came out, but the collected reprint is nice.

  16. @dogprod  i don’t have as big a problem with Liefield as it seems a lot of others do.

  17. @kmob181  Thats cool, I usually try to pre-empt any bashing before i mention that i like leifeld.  it seems every message board will light up with haters.

back on subject, i just finished the collected edition, and it was amazing.  i have #2 waiting for me at my LCS, cant wait to read it.

  18. that was a great read!  Lots of dialogue was nice, more than in most comics.  Had totally forgotten about this series since it took so long to come out but I’m glad its back…

  19. I thought the wordiness detracted a little from my overall enjoyment.  But the art is stellar.  This is a good series.  Ihope we see more soon.
