  1. After reading #0, I’ll give this a shot.  Could be a fun summer read.

  2. I loved the 0 issue.  Looking forward to sticking with this.  Does anyone know how long this will last?

  3. Alex Ross channeling Kirby’s cosmic style from the 70’s might be the coolest thing ever. I’ll probably buy this just to display it, regardless of story. Of which, I hope is good.

  4. Maybe.

  5. Ive always been hesitant of Ross’ style, but this just might pull me in.

  6. Loved Ross’s take on Kirby characters in Kingdom Come.

Note to Ross: Don’t make characters too svelt.
It takes away from the powerful presences of the Kirby characters.

  7. I re-read Kirby Genesis 0 last night. I certainly think JacK Herbert pencilling from Alex Ross thumbnails creates a perfect look. and With Busieks word’s this is certainly one to watch.

  8. Way better than I expected… though I was expecting to drop after one issue.  Can’t wait to see where this ends up.

  9. This is only issue #1, but I’m 150% sold at the moment … still kind of in wait and see mode at the moment though. The use of Kirby and Bobbi as a narrative device is loads better than Pandora’s Urn in Project Superpowers … and they’re believable, human characters (although the “hey let’s go party” scenario at the beginning was a bit contrived … whatever … not a big deal). I enjoyed the artwork. It was certainly better than Project Superpowers. The supes and the city under the city are BIG enough that this feels like Kirby to me … although I’m sure I’ve read far less than some others to know …

  10. I’m on board for the time being as well.  My ultimate problem with Project Superpowers was that they dumped too many characters in all at once and it got weighty with little action. I just got bored eventually.  That was my fear for Kirby Genesis too, but I really liked this issue.  Good story, exciting and it felt fresh.  Looking forward to some kickass battles with these new arrivals.

  11. Yes … I agree … waaaaay too many characters. I haven’t counted the actual number of characters they’re pulling into this, but the fact that they’re all Kirby properties gives it an immediate unity (and integrity?) that Project Superpowers never achieved. It is all in the storytelling so time will tell, but this one is certainly starting well.

  12. Jay Garuchel?
