  1. I just subscribed to this, so I’m hoping it’s great.

    Like, Casanova-great. We’ll see.

    • I really dug the first issue. A fresh, but not entirely unfamiliar flavor for the Marvel Universe. I’m not a long-time Hawkeye fan, but I really enjoyed the voice Fraction gave Clint. I also appreciate the creative team’s commitment to shorter story arcs and more condensed storytelling.

  2. The first issue was great, possibly even the best comic that month. I would definatley recommend this book to anybody.

  3. After a really phenomenal first issue (I’ve read three times) I am expecting it to be POTW!

  4. if this issue ends up being as good as the first I’m thinking of adding this to the pull list

  5. I’m looking forward to this one, first issue was just fun to read. I’m mostly looking forward to the panel-to-panel work.

  6. I don’t like Fraction. I don’t like Hawkeye. Yet I really enjoyed this book last month. Somethings just can’t be explained.

  7. So stoked! Can’t remember the last time I’ve been this excited for a book with a superhero in it. Hopefully issue 2 is just as fantastic as issue one.

  8. This issue was just as good as the first one…maybe even better! Definitely my POTW!

  9. My POTW! Just great… great!

  10. Really fantastic. Beautiful layouts, nicely paced dialog and exposition. Tight 22-page story that felt like more.

    Winner!

    (“Suck it, Domitian!”)

  11. I think this one was somehow even better than the first issue. Fraction has Hawkeye’s voice down. It’s faithful to his character, but completely original. I had a stupid smile on my face the whole time I was reading this.

  12. So. Fucking. Glorious.

  13. The art is so clean, crisp, and well thought out that the lack of background imagery in a lot of the panels actually enhances it. I say this because I’ve hated so many comics because of artists being lazy about background imagery, and right here is an artist who embraces minimalism. Where some artists were too lazy to go on, this artist exercised restraint and the subtlety is glorious.

    • That is because this is intentional and artistic and so many just cop out. Stock image skies (like Wolverine and the X-Men) and bad 3D props (G.I. Combat) are not done with any artistic vision or integrity. This is skillful and well-executed. It is the only Marvel book I am pulling.

  14. i totally believe Kate Bishop that she didn’t intentionally kill anyone, but those guys are DEAD

    • Haha, I thought the same thing, but don’t mind because it was a unique moment from both an art and story perspective.

Merely blinding someone with an arrow to the eye sounds kind of miraculous.

  15. Phenomenal cover….just from the cover of this one alone I picked up both this issue and went back and grabbed the first as well!

  16. I complained last month that there was no Hawkeye in the Hawkeye book -only Clint Barton- but now I understand the premise of the title and I have fallen in love with it; art and story wise this book is gold!

  17. Hey, wait a minute…
This issue featured Fraction, Aja, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, and guns, but cars weren’t a part of it!
I want my money back, Fraction!
I joke, I joke. Seriously, though, this was a great issue from start to finish. I’m pretty sure this is my new favourite series from Marvel. Easy pick of the week.

  18. I wasn’t going to even give this a look until I started reading the reviews. HOLY HAWK POOP, this was some of the best story telling I’ve seen. That includes story and art. Didn’t know Fraction had it in him. Thanks iFanboy!

  19. It wasn’t until I went back and re-read #1 after I’d read this book that I realised the vagabond code that Clint explains in this issue appears there, too. For us it was just some graffiti on the garage as he walks past, like you’d see in any similar urban environment. In this issue, we learn that it has meaning, and just what it means!
I really liked that. Great stuff.

  20. Another awesome issue. This is very different storytelling than I am used too and I like it!! Awesome artwork too.
