GRIFTER #7

Guest-starring MIDNIGHTER!

A voice is calling from the Himalayas; a dark secret awaits Grifter. He tracks it down, only to discover that the secret has a protector: Midnighter, who must not allow Grifter to leave the mountains alive. A massive battle on treacherous ice slopes shows Grifter that he’s in a world of heroes he cannot defeat and opens him up to new world-changing secrets as deadly as they are powerful.

  1. This book has been really pissing me off over the past few months and last issue was a real punt square in the baby makers, the art was just seemed like a “fuck you” to those of us who’ve been on board from the get go and also the stereotypical Hispanic chick? Edmonson is better than that.

    Last chance Grifter.

    I mean it.

  2. Grif is the man, don’t given in yet everyone. With the Midnighter appearing I think we are starting to see some of the new DCU starting to pull together as well as some of the new to the actual DCU goes. The story arc seems to be very complex and time consuming I know however; the pay offs I think will be well worth it.

    • I was one of this series’ biggest supporters at the start, hell it was my pick of the week a few times in the first three issues but my enthusiasm has been slowly corroded away by the bad art and spotty writing.

Get Cafu back and maybe we’ll talk.

  3. That was some terrible dialogue in this issue, especially the scene in the hospital…

  4. I thought this issue was fine, probably one of the better ones of this title so far. Now at least we have some info for Grif and he is now interacting with some other characters in the DCU.

  5. I was kind of torn on this issue. I get that the whole point was to show Grifter and Midnighter fighting, but both characters came off as mindless thugs.

“I don’t know what you’re doing here or what your motivations are, but I’m gonna kill you.”

“Oh yeah? I’m gonna kill you! You seem to just be here to investigate what’s going on, but rather than talk about it I’m just gonna start shooting you.”

Overall, the series has been intriguing enough to keep me interested, but this issue fell flat.

I did like Grifter’s new plan of action he states at the end. I’m interested to see where that goes, and whether the new writing team will handle the transition smoothly.

Grifter’s info dump was cool too. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of information pops up as a result of that.
