GIGANTIC TP VOL 01

It was a beautiful spring day in downtown San Francisco before a gigantic armored alien appeared from out of nowhere and began smashing things all to hell! Who is this invader? Why is he being attacked by strange alien beings? And why is he so Gigantic? A twist on The Truman Show, Gigantic focuses on a brainwashed alien superhero deposited on Earth to be the spotlight of an intrusive, around-the-clock television program being filmed without his knowledge.

  1. I love Remender, I want this book. Anyone read this in issues?

  2. I remember liking the first issue…then the book disappered for months at a time. Should be a fun collection though.

  3. iFanboys liked these as I remember from the podcasts, will be sure to check out!

  4. I’m telling you straight up. Don’t buy this. It’s not good

  5. I loved the first issue…it was nothing but down hill from there. Bought the entire series in issues and wish I had my money back. Great concept but poor product. Everything good about this title was in the first issue in my opinion.

  6. Well, here is how the community stands:

    Issue 1 –  198 Pulls – Avg Score: 4.3

    Issue 2 –  192 Pulls – Avg Score: 4.1

    Issue 3 –  185 Pulls – Avg Score: 3.7

    Issue 4 –  154 Pulls – Avg Score: 3.7

    Issue 5 –  110 Pulls – Avg Score: 3.2

Looks like the consensus is the series deteriorated over time, though the question is did it do bad enough in the end not to warrant a $12 ($2.40/issue) TPB purchase?  Also, for those that did read it – will it continue or is it done since Remender moved to Marvel?

  7. @rjspring: I haven’t read it, but it’s pretty much done.

  8. I read this in issues.  The quality and excitement level did wane as the series progressed, not to mention comepletely erratic shipping, but then I read the whole series in one sitting.  I thought it held up really well overall.  The art was kind of wierd and computery, especially towards the end, but that was my only complaint.  If you read Fear Agent and appreciate the torment that Houston is put through, I would recommend reading this.

  9. buy the new dan clowes book instead

  10. Dan Clowes is very good.  Very different from this, but very good indeed.

  11. better even
