IDW forum people are saying this is a 5 issue mini and then Hama is doing some spotlight issues. Since its only a mini, I think I’m more inclined to pick it up. I can’t imagine an origin story being an ongoing anyways.

This is awesome I’m really looking forward in getting me a copy of this comic book I’m also looking forward in knowing how G.I.Joe was really formed how Hawk became the leader how Duke became the first sergeant how Stalker became the military strategist and how Scarlett and Duke became an item.
If this is like the short story in GI Joe #0, it’s going to be great. Nice to have GI Joe comics again, only wish I could be excited about the movie.
Did this title ship??? I went to my store and they didn’t receive any. Was it just my shop or whats going on?
I got my copy today. Must have just been your shop. Or a small percentage of all shops
In doing some research, I got told that some shops may find their stock shorted because Diamond moved its central distribution centre…at least for what ships to Western Canada.
So everyone else, enjoy your books…..!
This is the second week of Diamond moving their hub affecting shipped books. I went to two stories and neither one had this.
I’m relieved to know I’m not the only one who couldn’t get it. hopefully it will be there next week
No Joe!
The art was incredibly distracting. Other than that, solid storyline. Although I do feel that every issue so far of the new Joe launch has been trying to show us how cool Snake Eyes is, or how cool he is going to be. He’s the Wolverine of the Joes, I suppose.
Well said OddsBodkins. My LCS didn’t get any IDW titles this week so no Joe or TF for me.
Going to my shop today, hopefully they have this book in. If not IDW is getting one pissed off letter. I am not mad that they messed up the shipping a book, I am mad that they felt the need to mess up this book at its launch. What a bone-head move to make!!!!
@drakedangerz – I agree. The art is awful (I certainly couldn’t do any better, but it is very bad). The writing is acceptable, but I expected more from Lama. Lama can do better than this and hopefully will in issue 2.
I heard the whole East coast didn’t get their shipment! That sucks I was looking forward to this because the G.I. Joe series has been very good so far
I’m in OKC and my store didn’t receive any either. Haven’t called around yet, but probably will at lunch time.
@wildkid – I don’t believe it is a problem on IDW’s side but rather the blame falls on Diamond. My shop has the same problem with Avatar and other smaller publisher books as they usually get them a week later than they are supposed to come out due to Diamond’s distribution center.
First of all @stulach – IT’S LARRY HAMA, not Lama.
Second of all, talked to my comic book guy (Cambridge, Ontario) and he said it is Diamond Comics, that he was notified of the fact that it wasn’t going to ship till next wednesday and it was on that weeks invoice too. Sounds organized and legit to me. Don’t put any blame on this site either, I don’t expect them to check Diamonds updated distribution info multiple times.

Hey, crap happens! If someone’s biggest problem in life is if a comic ships or doesn’t, then they either have a sweet, stress free life OR they have no other stress cause mom brings down sandwiches to them in her basement twice a day so they don’t have to stop gaming and grumbling!
@yyzKyle – I simply combined his two names into a catchy nickname. Lama is actually his wife’s pet name for him (or if it isn’t, it should be).
Seriously thought, I am a fan of his from way back (my favorite issue of any comic book ever is the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow silent issue he wrote way back in #21 of the Marvel series), but this really did feel like a pretty week story. I mean, Snake Eyes attacking someone with an empty saline bag? Not his best stuff.
It wasn’t empty, it still had tons of saline in it!!
But yeah, thats where we have differing opinions. I think it was a solid story. In fact, if not for the story I wouldn’t be sticking around for the next issue. Its interesting enough, moving at a great pace, and doesn’t feel bland or generic.
And I think the Snake Eyes parts are mostly editorial mandates to make him seem so cool. I wouldn’t be surprised if next issue they have the guy being someone to death with a fish!
@drakedangerz – I’m glad you enjoyed the story. I will also be sticking around for the next issue (and for the rest of the series). Nostalgia is a hell of a thing.
If the next issue involves fish related beatings I will blame you.

@drakedangerz: There’s no need for an editorial mandate to make Snake-Eyes cool. He *is* cool. He’s the fan favorite people love the most. He is always going to be the focus.
the only thing I found distracting about the art is that it is inconsistant at times. Duke at one point kept switching from pants to shorts and then back to pants. Only a minor complaint as i thought the story was pretty good. I liked what they did with the bad guy wearing the face from the painting. Though i am not sure who it is supposed to be yet. Is it cobra commander or zartan, could be dr. mindbender with the whole psychology degree thing. (though he looked a little beefy to be him). They didnt say did they?
@Handsaw-I think its Cobra Commander, but it never actually said. Could be anyone I suppose
I think I need to re-read this. Was the fellow in the hospital at the end the same dude that was holed up in the house? Halp!
