I could take or leave Tripwire, but I really like Beachhead, so that’s exciting for me.
@Connor: Really?!?! You think Gallant is a better fit? Huh. Atkin’s art was the whole reason I picked up this book in the first place (besides it being a G.I. Joe book, but that by itself would not have convinced me.) I love Atkin’s treatment of the characters, his storytelling ability, and how he’s brought them up-to-date. I think Gallant is good, but every once in a while, his drawings strike me as too cartoony, and not in a good way. (See last month’s cover w/ Destro.)
@ctrosejr: Yes, really. I’ve said it since issue #1. I think this has been the weakest of the IDW books because it has the least gritty art style. Compared to ORIGINS and COBRA this book sticks out like a sore thumb, artwise.
@Connor: re: last month’s cover My bad. BTW, I meant no disrespect by my comments. I was just surprised, seeing how Atkin’s art was the reason I picked up the book in the first place. I agree with your take on the "grit" factor, though. The other two books are much more gritty.
New topic: Is this book on your top ten list (of on-going titles) for 2009? It’s definitely on mine. Though, I haven’t made an actual list as of yet, I would say it would probably fall somewhere between 4 – 6 when I finally do.
Exciting! I love Atkin’s artwork.
WOOT!!! Atkins on art is where its at for a Joe book.
Not thrilled to see Robert Atkins back. SL Gallant was a better fit for the book.
I don’t remember tripwire. Should I be excited that he’s joining the team?

@ctrosejr: Also, last month’s cover — which I quite liked — was by Howard Chaykin, not SL Gallant.
