  1. I’m strictly a no mini-series guy (unless it’s a must) and I think I’ll be breaking the rules for this one! Great team!

  2. I was gonna avoid any mini tie-ins on this title… But it’s Geoff Johns!

  3. I’m on the fence about getting this one.  The Johns/Kolins team is one of my all-time favorite combinations.  At the same time, I decided to sit out all Final Crisis stuff – will I break down and get this?  I’m sure a flip-test at my LCS this week will contribute greatly to my final decision.

  4. @Eyun I completely agree. I can’t resist a good Geoff Johns book. The man is ON FIRE!

  5. Geoff Johns + DC = Gold

  6. I wanted to resist the whole Final Crisis deal but damn if I haven’t been enjoying the whole thing so far, I’m in.

  7. All the Final Crisis tie-ins look solid, including this one.

What do you guys think of DC keeping all the Crisis tie-ins out of the regular books, and charging $3.99 for these minis? Wouldn’t most Final Crisis readers read the main DC books anyway?

I stopped reading Secret Invasion after two issues becuase nothing happened & by what I have read most of the meat of the story is told in a bunch of other titles I don’t read. Do you think it’s better to keep it all seperate & self contained like Final Crisis, or spread the story out over a lot of regular books like Marvel is doing with Secret Invasion?

  8. Anything to help me understand Final Crisis a little more.

  9. @wadewilson

I think that DC has a better approach to the event cross overs. I’m a pretty casual reader with out a lot of coin, so I just don’t want any part of something I need to add 4 new titles to fully enjoy.

For my money Sinestro Crops. War did it perfect.  I was able to read what I wanted and wasn’t punished for not getting something.  It would seem Final Crisis is in the same vein.  I am adding some of these minis to my pull list, but not because I need them to enjoy Crisis but because they seem like knock out stories.

  10. Low expectations made Requiem good for me so I hope high expectations for this does’nt have an opposite effect.

  11. @WadeWilson- thats a good question mate, I don’t think I can give an honest appraisal until they’re both finished though.  But once they are there should be a ifanboy special titled "Final Crisis vs Secret Invasion- which one worked."

  12. @WadeWilson I’m not sure if DC has any main books like Marvel does. Most books seem to be off doing their own thing, which I like. I’m glad for the Minis. It makes it easeir to decided whether I want to jump on to a tie in or not.

  13. I kind of like it being its own beast. Besides, there’s so much going on with RIP and those tie-ins I think I’d explode (or go bankrupt) if every book was linked.

To anyone who managed the whole Civil War thing, tie-ins and all; I salute you! Man, that must have fried some brain cells keeping up with that. 🙂

  14. I personally have been buying all the Secret Invasion tie-ins and at this point quite enjoy the crossover as whole. It also seems to me that DC is doing a good job with tie-ins too, with this, the Legion mini, the Morrison 3D Superman story and the one shots all looking pretty good.

This mini looks to be really great though, judging by the creative team. Johns on the Flash should be great. But then Waid on the Flash again, should have too, and look how that turned out. Either way it’s one of the most exciting comics coming tommorow.

  15. love the team on this. and im pumped to read this series!!

  16. @Eyun — I only read the main Civil War book & got a decent story, and even though I must have missed a lot, it was enough to me, where if you read Secret Invasion on it’s own, it seems like you won’t get much of the full picture.

Anyways … I think this mini right here will rock. When was the last time you read a bad Geoff Johns book?

  17. @Wade – Damn, I bet even the main story of Civil War was heavy on the wallet. You have my kudos, sir.

I’ve only been reading seriously a few years, but I honestly cannot remember a bad Geoff Johns book. Ever. 🙂

  18. why isn’t the cover thick and shiny like the other Final Crisis books? 🙁

  19. @insight, oh it is…

  20. An open letter to Geoff Johns:

    Dear Geoff,

Why is it so hard for other writers to get it when you make it seem so simple? "Other writers" try to trick me with elusive plot tactics, forcing me to stumble around in the dark to make sense of it all. But you, you just lay it all out there, and I appreciate that.

I have a small favor to ask of you because I know only you can handle it. Please, for the love of GOG, tie-up the loose end on how Martian Manhunter fell into Libra’s hands. It shouldn’t be hard. He was in a cage. I don’t need a twist on how it happened. Just a "how".

I know you won’t let me down because you’re the best. Also, at WWC you mentioned you might enjoy a stint on the Hulk. Lets see what we can do to get that done, because the Hulk needs serious help.

    I <3 you forever

    XOXOXOXOX,

    FACE

  21. Fantastic work here. Bart is so coming back.

  22. Was that the Iris Allen that was married to Barry?  I remember hearing about something that she died?  Was that Barry calling out to her?

    Help me I’m new.

  23. @FACE – I wholeheartedly second that open letter. Good work, sir 🙂

  24. I am with Flash too Kory, I was a more than confused with this issue and I wasn’t too hip on the art style honestly.

  25. @Kory & Kimbo – Yes, that’s Barry’s wife, Iris.  Yes, that’s probably Barry calling out to her.  And yes, she was at one point dead but as with most death in comics it didn’t stick, she was brought back to life via time travel, which happened a lot with Barry.

  26. @Conor-Thanks for answering my questions. I have enjoyed reading comics but sometimes I need help with certain things going on and about characters in the books.  That’s what I love about this site, you post a question and somebody answers it without people calling you an idiot.   To me that’s what makes iFanboy better than other sites.

  27. @Coner- Ditto with what you said Kory, this is such a cool and unique comic community.  Thanks for the info Coner.  What are some good Barry as Flash storylines by the way?  I see trades for Wally as the Flash everywhere but do they publish some good Barry/Flash trades?

  28. I got a good chuckle out of reading this book.  I read Mirror Master’s lines in my head with a Monty Python and the Holy Grail British accent, particularly Sir Galahad.  It brought a smile to my face.

  29. @Kimbo – The Flash Archives are excellent for Barry story’s I wish they would come out with Vol. 5 With issues from the 70’s and early 80’s in Hardback. Also the Greatest Story’s ever told is also a good Trade Paper Back.

  30. Cool, thanks!
