CROSSED #9 (OF 9)

The bloody conclusion of the horror series of the year has too much violence to fit in a normal comic, so this final issue is super-sized! There is nothing left to do but for Cindy and the last of her friends to take the battle to the Crossed. It doesn’t go well. Garth Ennis takes no prisoners and offers no hope in the most intense book of his career! Nothing is going right, but this is no fairy tale — there are no magic cures on the horizon. When civilization crumbles in one terrifying moment; when people are gleefully breaking into unthinkable acts of violence all around you; when everyone you love has died screaming in agony: What do you do? There is no help. There is no hope. There is no escape. There are only the Crossed. This stomach-churning vision is brought to vivid by his partner in crime Jacen Burrows. This nihilistic ninth issue is available with a Regular or Wraparound cover by Burrows as well as a rare Red Crossed Edition by Burrows.

  1. Love that cover.  Glad to finally see the end to this.

  2. Can’t wait to pick up the big, big trade.

  3. this has been one of my favorite Ennis books. I simply can not get enough Crossed and hope that after this, maybe we will see a spin off, or something. Too bad this took damn near 2 years to come out =/

  4. @fvck Did it seriously take that long?

  5. THere has been some sick SICK stuff in this book.  But it has been really REALLY good.  This should have been a movie not the crazies.

  6. @Fvckstick: There is a spin off already in the works. it’s called Crossed: Family Values. It’s being written by the equally sick David Lapham. http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/comics/385

  7. @Vadamawens – yeah man, it’s crazy. The zero issue came out in August 2008.

@Comicdork37 – thanks for the link! Kind of a bummer that Burrows isn’t returning either. I’m definatly gonna get the first issue to see if i can accept it =P

  8. Jesus.  I didn’t realize it had been that long.

  9. Every issue I read of this I ask myself was that really good or was that just complete shit?  I’m still unsure….  I’ve never been so unsure about how I feel towards a comic.

  10. crazy talk Hawkboy…crazy talk.

  11. @hawkboy and fvckstick well I must admit that the first few issues that I read took some adjustment.  I think the horse dick turned my stomach a bit.  But, in general, I’ve really loved reading this.

  12. Don’t get me wrong guys…I’m not saying I hate it… I just can’t make up my mind either way!  It’s really weird!  SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT TO DO!  😉

  13. I say you should like it :p

  14. I thought this ended just they way it should. Great ending leaving the origins of the Crossed where it stands from, was it…last issue? where they kill all the scientists?

anyways, it was a perfect ending. Leaves it open to more stories (obviously) but the characters do have closure in the sense that they do realize and acknowledge that the crossed are just human’s with emphisized evil characteristics, but humans none the less. 5* easily.

  15. Solid ending to an extremely fucked up story.

  16. This kinda went out with a whimper & not the bang I was expecting. Unless this leads into a sequel series, I’m not happy with this as an ending. Still a good fun read of a series & not a bad ending … I just expected more of a punch from such a brutal story.

  17. This issue shows the Garth Ennis we all know and love. In the begining of the series there was lots of violence and perversity, but with every issues the true heart and emotion of the story creeped in and it really delivered in this issues. Makes me want to get back on The Boys.
