  1. Really diggin’ this book so far.

  2. Last chance to impress me or I’m gone.

  3. Listening to DeConnick on Word Balloon as she discussed the history of female pilots really psyched me up for this series. She has a passion for this subject & Carol. If she’s allowed to continue, I think DeConnick will set Carol apart from other Marvel Heroines & really define her as her own person.

I just hope she’s allowed to continue. 3 artists on this book isn’t making me feel optimistic about that.

  4. I paged through the second issue — and was really, really turned off by the art — and the way Carol looked. I don’t think this series will be long for the world.

  5. Did they touch up her hair to make it longer on this cover too or are they lampshading?

“No no, she really does have the world’s widest ponytail!’

  6. I enjoy DeConnick’s writing, but I hate the art. I hope for an artist change soon.

    • According to the solicit, you’re gonna get everything you hoped for in this issue. And then Emma Rios is drawing 4-6 if I’m not mistaken.

Soy’s art is growing on me. The way he draws Captain Marvel seriously makes me believe she is a powerhouse.

    • I’m sure I’ll look back at that comment and regret saying that. I’m not sure that I’ll like going through 3 different artists any better. I think I just really liked the way Carol was drawn in Avenging Spider-Man 9 & 10.

  7. I’m gonna give this at least a couple arcs to get going.

I’m hoping this book lasts a while, and we get to see quite a few artists.

  8. Still loving the story, still loving the art.

It took me a while to get used to Dexter Soy’s art but I really liked #2.

I thing one big problem is that the covers are stylistically too far from the interiors, thus creating wrong expectations.

Just try to imagine if they used something like this as #1 cover:

Personally I’d have liked Soy to stick around for more issues.

  10. This took a bit of dive for me this week. Liked the first issue a lot, loved number 2, but 3 was a bit all over the place for me. Sort of liking Soy’s art work, by turns great and unsuitable. I think to make this work they need a bigger name, cleaner style artist on for the next arc.

  11. It seems to me that with this arc Kelly Sue DeConnick is trying to retroactively make Carol the FIRST Captain Marvel, the same way Hippolyta became the first Wonder Woman by traveling to the past. I like the idea because that way Carol and Mar-Vell inspired each other and BOTH would be the original Captain Marvel.

  12. The art is not to my liking, but I will give this title a few more issues.

Nothing in this title is specifically wowing me or detracting me, story-wise, but it’s not grabbing me the way I’d want it to.
