CAPTAIN AMERICA WHO WONT WIELD SHIELD #1

Steve Rogers has returned! In fact he was in such a hurry that he actually came back before the story was done! But, whatever, I’m sure no one even noticed. Anyway, Bucky Barnes is the current Captain America, and has come into his own in the role in a story Captain America editor Tom Brevoort calls “the greatest single marriage of words and pictures in the history of the English language. Suck it, rest of literature!” But will Bucky go back to being the Winter Soldier? Are there others in line? Who cares?! All we’re interested in is who WON’T be holding that Vibranium laced hunk of junk and what major new Marvel event comic it leads into. Who won’t wield the shield? It could be not YOU!!! (Featuring a special appearance by everybody’s favorite underused character, Deadpool! At last, Deadpool! In a comic!)

  1. I don’t know about this, but that preview is awesome.

  2. I need to read the preview to decide if I’ll buy this.

  3. If the LCS has it…. I’m in.

  4. Fraction sold me on this book. I’m in

  5. The preview is the only reason I’m buying this.

  6. This sounds godawful. Anything with Deadpool is a stay away from.

  7. Is this a joke book?  If so, $4 for a one-note joke seems pretty steep.

But maybe I misunderstand the point.

  8. Is bucket head on the cover the orginal DC Red Tornado (or the new guitar player for Guns and Roses)?

  9. i feel like i’ve A)missed the joke or B) simply dont get whats funny.

  10. You’re missing the joke. You’re all missing the joke!

  11. Matt Fraction and Jason Aaron are enough to pull me into this on something that I normally wouldn’t be interested in

  12. The joke is that 110 people actually pulled this book! (110 at time of comment)

  13. I’m gonna pick this up. The previews for it were great and I’m hoping the whole book will be as good.

  14. Forbush Man!

  15. What The–?! lives!

  16. For $2.99, I’d consider buying it. For $3.99, not a chance.

  17. The buckethead is Forbush Man.  A Stan Lee joke character.  You had to have read lots of the best 60s era Marvel comics to get the joke.  It was a character he constantly talked up in his original soapbox columns, but never revealed in the comics, until they finally released him in the "Not Brand Echh!" Comic, a jab at DC comics of the era.

The preview of Jason Aaron writing Forbush Man looks AMAZING! 🙂 Not sure if I want to read the other people’s stories though.  🙁

  18. Sweet!!!!

  19. I’m enjoying that the average rating on this book is a 7.

  20. Doctor America was everything I wanted it to be. I love Matt Fraction.

  21. Hrmph, I was excited about this, but I just felt like I was reading a bunch of inside jokes that I wasn’t a part of.  There were some funny moments, and some cool art, but if I had it to do over again, I would’ve left this on the shelf.

  22. Agreed

  23. The Doctor America story is the reason I don’t read underground comics. It was a bunch of nonsense.

  24. This was not worth the money. It had a few smirks and maybe a laugh, but honestly, I was more entertained by the "Sleeg Checklist" on the last page than I was with the rest of comic.
