  1. Crazy, good stuff… Loving the art by Harren!

  2. I recently bought and read all of the BPRD books. It was worth every cent! Now it’s time I start working into Hellboy. . .

  3. So if Daryl wins does Daimo become a wendingo? This has been an action packed mini, and this finale promises to be a blast.

@HailScott, good move dude, I think you will really enjoy Hellboy too, I did a crash course on the Mignolaverse about a year and a half ago, and I have re-read both HB and BPRD since then because they are just that enjoyable. I find new things to appreciate every time I go through these books. Mignola and Arcudi just know how to tell engaging, creepy stories, and they always get top notch artists like Harren, Davis, Fegredo, etc. to knock it out of the park.

    • I have the first 4 HB trades so far. I’m really enjoying the Mignola universe.

BTW, is it just my copies, or are Dark Horse trades made of utter crap? Some of the pages have fallen out before I’m even done with the books.

    • TurdSandwich stated, “…if Daryl wins does Daimo become a wendingo?”

That’s what I’m thinking, but , as you well know, in the BPRD world, anything can happen.

I’ve noticed you’ve become a ‘regular’ within the BPRD circle of comments. I actually have you to thank for ‘pushing’ me into the Mignolaverse. (Luckily, it wasn’t a deep pool of sharks that I was shoved into…lol).
Anyways, thanks for the recommendation, it has paid off. This has been a great world to visit!

    • You’re very welcome Kman. I am pretty new to the weekly comics game(started in Feb. 2011), and it has been the friendly nature of this site, and it’s members, that really pushed me into getting floppies on Wednesdays. Now that I am a confirmed addict, I really dig coming here every week to discuss books, and give/recieve recommendations. I am happy to hear that my suggestions got you to try out the awesome world of Mignola/Arcudi books.

    • @HailScott: It’s not just you. I own the first 10 Hell Boy trades and at least 4 of them are in super shitty condition. Pages falling out, bindings coming unglued, ink on the covers rubbing off, all sorts of problems. They’re only about 2 years old too. At least it’s a series that I would mind re-buying further down the line.

    • That happened to one of my first hellboy trades. Gives me a good reason to upgrade it to digital at least.

    • my trades are just fine. they are mustard. maybe i just got lucky and found the “pearls” of the bunch.

  4. These comics read way better in trade. Way better. So, I don’t know, put that in your pipe or something

    • After a couple of puffs of my pipe, I will have to agree. I bought the first HC volume of BPRD and was totally satisfied with the world creation going on.Great series!

    • As great as this was, I think you’re right about trade-waiting. I’ve been reading BPRD in issues for years, but lately the issues have been feeling shorter somehow. But I guess that’s probably because of the wonderfully drawn action sequences, so I can’t complain.

    • (puff, puff…………cough, cough!)………..whaaaaat man, what are we talking about? i’m just so hungry, man.

  5. Holy shit, James Harren drew the hell out of this issue(no pun intended). The end was bittersweet, but I don’t think it could have gone any other way. I also thought the scene by the campfire was done exceptionally well; Dave Stewart’s colors were spot on as usual, especially depicting the fireglow on everyone. Anyone who just can’t wait for more of Harren’s work, can check out Conan the next three months. I’m excited to see what he can do with a swordfight.

I can agree that these stories may read better in a trade, but for me, the individual covers combined with the re-readibilty of these stories makes the floppies worth it. I always tore through each BPRD trade in one sitting, so the wait in between issues has me going back and really absorbing all the wonder and crazyness contained in each book.

  6. Holy shit is right! This was a bloody intense finish and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Wow!
Those last pages were simply bitter sweet. Peace at last! …but only for one of them?
No doubt, most things read well in trade form, but I love my BPRD fix too much to wait it out. Besides, Scott Allie is always a treat in the letter columns with hints and promoting future projects. Plus, when they decide to wrap up the Hell On Earth chapters (way down the road), I’m sure that we’ll be seeing an omnibus treatment much like the Plague of Frogs HCs. I can pass on my issues free to new readers (as I have done) then buy these beauties.

  7. harren’s fight scenes are just SO. FUCKING. INTENSE. truly one of the best action sequence artists i’ve ever had the pleasure of observing. this arc as a whole was as solid as it gets. some of my favorite scenes was when they were strolling through the snow covered woods. bumping into the wendingo, coming across the bloody, discarded bodies, the campfire scene with it’s perfect light/shadow casting. i was having flashbacks to the predator movie(minus the snow, of course). it was awesome.
