BOYS #53

Christmas 1944 sees Captain Greg Mallory safely in reserve, far from the front line with Nazi Germany. A good time to rest and refit, to recover from the horrors of war. Not such a good time for a unit of very special soldiers- backed by the Vought-American-Consolidated corp- to show up looking for combat experience. Hughie gets a war story he’ll never forget, as the Battle Of The Bulge begins with a bang… The Boys #53, part two of Barbary Coast.

  1. This book feels like homework now. I’ve come this far with the story so I feel like a can’t drop the damn thing…

  2. same here. It really does. I haven’t been excited about it in what seems like a year

  3. I have liked it much more of late. For a while in the thirties I almost dropped it, but I have been enjoying it more as of late.

  4. Cover of the week!  In reality, though, he’d be regurgitating his own intrals.  Along with the abovementioned comments, I haven’t looked forward to a new Boys so much in at least 10 issues.
Hopefully it’ll stay this good until it wraps up.

  5. It went a bit sour for me when Darick Robertson left. I’m trying to be patient and follow Ennis where he is going. I enjoy all the back story issues, but also hope there is a payoff soon …

  6. I loved the WWII stuff, and it made the book far more interesting than it has been in awhile, but Ennis’ disdain for super heroes is starting to get stale.

  7. @milez42  I feel exactly the same way.

  8. This was great, Ennis really knows how to write military stories.

  9. More than a bit peeved with the announcement that Butcher’s origin has been slated as its own mini … talk about crass commercialism. Having come this far (and at a pretty penny too), I want to be loyal to this book, but feel like others here. Give me something I can sink my teeth into Ennis! And put Robertson back on the damn interiors!
