  1. Well I think we can all agree that there is no longer anyone angry about these being published and that this whole controversy has blown over. [brushes palms clean] Done and done.

  2. I’m still on the fence about continuing with this one… this issue should be the deciding factor

  3. Hey wait! Where are the hard boiled eggs on that cover?

    😉

  4. I really wanted to get all the BW, but the budget is tightening up a bit. Might have to drop some (or even all) of these.

  5. This was the one Before Watchmen book I was looking forward to, and I really dug last issue. I’m excited to find out more about the Minutemen, and I’m loving Cooke’s art, it’s a perfect fit for the era.

  6. cooke is a god. hope he continues to impress me with these books(as if there’s any doubt).

  7. Really loving the BW, with the exception of Night Owl–MJS is struggling, and not to much surprise–the end of the Twelve was horrid

  8. i love how they market wit Crimson Corsair does anyone even read it,cause I don’t I dont even read the pirate parts and Watchmen.

    • Yeah I’ve been reading them, might as well since we are paying for it. They’re fine, not terrible, not exceptional

  9. Was that Captain Metropolis with Hooded Justice at the end?

    • That’s how I read it. I felt pretty bad for the guy, it didn’t seem like he was into HJ’s version of cuddling.

Two issues in, and I’m really enjoying this book. So far I think I like the art more than the story, but I’m perfectly fine with that.

    • it is the captain.

  10. Haters gonna hate.

But in all seriousness, how can anyone be upset about a new DARWYN COOKE comic book?! The man is a genius and one of the best in the biz!

  11. Hooded Justice/Captain Metropolis, little bondage-rape action? okay then….

  12. this book is awesome. all of the BW books are(nite-owl is debatable).

    • I agree completely. Nite Owl was only decent – the rest have kicked ass. DC has nothing to be ashamed of – using characters they own to make great books – that’s what I want to see.

    • no shame at all. i’m really glad they decided to make these.
when i heard cooke was doing this book i thought his pulpy pencil style was perfect for the Minutemen. however, i wondered if he could, as a writer, capture the underlining dark nature of the source material. those concerns have been laid to rest. i even mentioned in my review that some of the scenes might have made even the Marquis de Sade himself blush.
      here’s to Cooke. salud.

  13. I love Cooke. Haha. This series is showing his strengths that he perfected in “New Frontier”. I love how outward this book feels very innocent and fun, but much like the original book, shows the inner workings of the characters. Overall, I can’t wait for issue 3, and glad to see the amount of love that Cooke has gotten amidst this “Before Watchmen” brouhaha.
