  1. Just re-read #1-3 in prep for the final issue…holds together really well. Adam Hughes is brilliant and I think JMS does a good job latching onto all the key Moore points regarding Dr. Manhatten. Nice working of the whole Watchmen universe into the storyline without feeling forced. I like how JMS makes the one and only crimebusters meeting the starting point for all of Jon’s troubles. Some nice 9 panel grid work, and an interesting nod at trying to make some of the pages look like they’re from a comic book printed 30 years ago. The role women play in Jon’s world (he seems desirous of but incapable of love, and also is frankly a pathetic hound dog). In issue #1, there is a shot of Laurie saying “I love you” that is mind-boggling good.

    • That’s an interesting point about Jon’s love life. It’s clear he loves Janey Slater because he loved her before the accident, but why does he love Laurie? Because she’s part of his future? Because of her spirit? Because she’s attractive? It’s an intriguing subject.

  2. This was a good miniseries. The use of Ozy in #4 was more interesting to me than the Ozymandias series itself probably because it was only one issue instead of 6 rather tedious ones.

Also in this issue: PROLOGUE TO AFTER WATCHMEN

  3. Great issue…loved the flip the comic trick!

And oh yea, I’m there if they do After Watchmen…I think these books have been good to great. That’s alot more than I’d say about the majority of books on the racks.

    • Ohh, I wouldn’t be into that. “Before Watchmen” was somewhere between Very Good to Great but I don’t want DC to keep doing this kind of stuff. No more Before or After, just be glad that this gave you a boost and made some money. If they did do an “After Watchmen”, it should be one issue set in a parallel universe that covers like 5-6 possible endings that’s left up to the reader to pick as the best.

  4. Was the ending of this similar to the beginning of Prometheus? or was it just me?

the flip the comic book trick does not work well digitally, or maybe it did , either way it was a pain in the ass to read those panels with out the device flipping the image upside down

    • OMG, I can’t imagine how annoying that must have been digitally?!?!! Even Ryan Haupt would have been driven to get a dead tree version!! Too funny.

    • Looking back on it, the end was sort of similar to the beginning of “Prometheus” (weird how that turned out). I think this was written months before “Prometheus” came out so it’s probably a coincidence. Plus it wasn’t really explained how the Engineers created life so they’re not entirely the same.

  5. I agree it’s probably a total coincidence but still weird how the images and scenes are similar, at least that’s how I remember the scenes in Prometheus.
