BATWOMAN TP VOL 01 ELEGY

“Almost epic in scope. Fantastic.” – Ain’t It Cool News

“One of the most gorgeous, expertly crafted comic books I’ve encountered in years.” – IGN

In these tales from DETECTIVE COMICS #854-860, now available in trade paperback, Batwoman battles a madwoman known only as Alice, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, who sees her life as a fairy tale and everyone around her as expendable extras! Batwoman must stop Alice from unleashing a toxic death cloud over all of Gotham City – but Alice has more up her sleeve than just poison, and Batwoman’s life will never be the same again.

  1. I would have bought this, but read issue #1 as a $1 sampler, and, um, no.  Hype was blown out of proportion.  Art, yes is great.  Story was not.

  2. @KickAss  You’re making that judgement based on one issue? If you only read #1 you didn’t really get the whole story. You got, like, a snippet. Anyways, $17.99 is worth it just for Williams’ art! 🙂

  3. I always read hoe monumental this was in Detective but I didn’t think so at the time. Maybe I was bummed at Bats not being in his own book so I guess I should re read it before deciding on Batwoman 1. I do love her costume though.

  4. I have the HC and this is one of the best collections I own.

@KickAss  There is no way the the writing can compare to the art. It’s just not possible. Still, I thought the writing was terrific. If you like Rucka on Stumptown or writing Renee Montoya in Gotham Central then you will enjoy this without a doubt.

  5. Really excited about checking this book out.

  6. @KickAss The story got better as the issues went on, as Kate’s back story was revealed and informed the reader about who she is.  There is a reason this arc is so beloved, and it’s not just because of the art.  You sold this series too short, IMHO.

  7. It’d be nice to see her actual book come out.  We’ll see, I’m not buying into DC’s “53 new issues comin out SOON” crap.  You’re more likely to get 12 issues NEW and 31 ISSUES COMING EVENTUALLY!
