  1. I’ve been impressed by Winick’s storyline for Batwing so far. I realize he is a short-timer now, but I hope what he started continues in the same vein with the next writer. Hopefully, this will not get canceled upon Winick’s leaving.

Also, a HUGE fan of Marcus To!

    • I think it will. Winick is a high profile writer who has a large fanbase with all the works he’s done in the past decade and if he leaves a bunch of the readers will (like me). Unless they find a suitable replacement witch I hope they do.

  2. I really loved the first arc, but now Batwing is just becoming redundant. With all of the issues with him in Gotham and the much too often assistance from guest stars, this has barely been his own book. I wish the rest of this story were more like the first 6 issues as those really got to know David and his home lands.

    • Sadly, books like this rely on those guest appearances to boost sales…

    • I think sadly that is what DC editorial thinks. But I know that I was one reader who enthusiastically ate up the opening arc only to drop the book when BW was shown time and again to be nothing more than a two-bit African Robin. Look at Batwoman, that character does not wallow in guest star crossovers the way batwing was forced to. Bad move DC, many fans crave a cool admirable non-colonial African hero.

  3. The first 6 issues were great. “Authentic” I head them described. Since then, “Schizophrenic” is what I’d say…BUT…not necessarily “bad” schizophrenic. Just freakin’ crazy what happens in the span of one issue. I will stay on for the next writer just to sample the waters.

  4. I loved this issue and I’m excited for what the future holds.

Judd Winick has done loads to establish this character, his backstory and his supporting cast. I think it was fitting that he got to do Batwing’s origin in full for Issue 0. ‘Batwing’ is potentially one of the richest and most interesting series DC is putting out, so I hope the next writer appreciates the complexity of the character and his surroundings. This ongoing is a potential goldmine of ideas, stories and statements. It could be a real breath of fresh air in the DCU that doesn’t need to revolve around Gotham City, Metropolis or the US.

I’ve enjoyed year one, roll on year two!

  5. I really dont mind the Batman cameos anymore. David is such a developed character now thanks to Winick. I really wish he wasn’t leaving. But I love the run I got!

  6. I liked seeing the origin of Batwing in this issue. Very informative.
