  1. Wow, only 108 pulls (as of time of post).  This may be kevin smiths last go at batman and so far so good in my opinion.  The writing, art, and covers have blown my mind so far.  Kevin, if you read this…..please don’t stop.

  2. This has been a bit odd but I have enjoyed it quite a bit.

  3. I’m a Kevin Smith supporter & buy everything he does, but this series & Cacophony have been the weakest of all the comics he’s written (IMO).

  4. I used to be a huge Kevin smith
fan but his work in the last few years has been incredibly diaapointing, this included

  5. I think this books been really solid…  I say get Walt Flanagan a regular book.  He’s shown that he does  brighter stuff much better (IMO), in other words the flashback stuff he does really seems to pop off the page.  So I say put him on a Booster Gold type title… I think it would really suit his style.

  6. other than some Jay and Silent Bob comics, THe widening gyre and cacophony are the only Kevin Smith comics I’ve been exposed to.  Despite some average reviews on the new Green Hornet series coming up, I am still looking forward to reading that as well.  What are some other, possibly better, Kevin Smith comics that anyone could recommend?

  7. I just realized how awesome this cover is!  Best one so far this series.

  8. @jwaesch His green Arrow run is excellent… you can probably get those on the cheap or in trade.

  9. @jwaesch – I agree with Hawkboy about his run on Green Arrow. I have it in 2 hard covers. Also check out his run on Daredevil called Guardian Devil. It was the Daredevil relaunch through Marvel Knights in the late 90s.

  10. This wasn’t bad but it
still reads like fan fiction. There are parts of it that are really good, interesting character stuff, and then there are other parts that are clunky, forced, and out of character. And the ending is extremely forced.

  11. Yea, I can see the "fan-fic" criticism, but overall I’ve enjoyed this series.  I can’t tell how the Baphomet storyline ends (which is good).  Also, I think Smith’s focus on Bruce’s lovelife, and to a lesser extent how Batman and Robin can’t deal with this guy who isn’t as uncomfortable as they are revealing who he is under the mask are very interesting topics.  Throw in the almost "fan-fic" inclusion of lots of the fun Bat-villains in entertaining situations, and I think the result is Fun…maybe not deep, maybe not earth-shattering, but Fun.

Never read Cacaphony or the Green Arrow run…don’t really have any Smith baggage one way or the other.

  12. @urthona his green arrow run is definatly worth picking up. It’s really good actually

  13. I like Kevin Smith and I liked Cacophony, but these series has been getting weaker with every issue, I will get issue six, but if he ever finishes the next six planned for later this year I’ll probably skip’em
