  1. I wonder if this team can re-create the magic they originally deployed on The Penguin mini?

    • That’s what I’m hoping. I was following Gregg Hurwitz after that Penguin mini but when DC decided to rehash Batman’s origin story with Mr. Hurwitz, I dropped out. Now that this looks like a new story, I’m back on.

    • Really hope so.
I stopped reading this series a few months back, but that cover alone is enough to make me pick this up
I enjoyed the Scarecrow arc but felt like the series was going round in circles (more so than usual even for Batman). Actually pretty excited to read this now.

  2. Hurwitz is one of my current fav Batman writers. Sad to see Van Sciver leave but Kudranski is doing great in his place.

  3. Jumping in here to see if Hurwitz and Kurdandski got the goods on Detective, and that Maleev cover doesn’t hurt. Only caught a little of VanSciver but even with his art Hurwitz didn’t capture the Penguin Prejudice niche he had.

  4. Nice art but lame story.

  5. i thought it was a pretty interesting psychological thriller

  6. This was good! I love Kudranski’s Penguin and the way he draws the Hatter’s eyes. The story was very entertaining, but nothing groundbreaking (not that I was expecting that from an Annual), and I liked how Hurwitz built upon Pride and Prejudice. The maze was kinda silly and unnecessary though (trying too hard there). Good, funny dialogue, and the artwork was phenomenal. For a one-shot Batman story this was worth my $5.

  7. This was good enough to earn my Pick of the Week. I really enjoyed both the story and art.

  8. A very good annual!

  9. Awesome story, felt like a Halloween special! And that art was amazing. They have always had good artists on this title since the beginning IMO.
