BATMAN STREETS OF GOTHAM #14

The anticipated sequel to HEART OF HUSH is here! Paul Dini and Dustin Nguyen deliver an exciting continuation of the saga of Tommy Elliot and Bruce Wayne! Cracking under the strain of living as “Bruce Wayne,” Elliot plans his final, murderous revenge on Dick Grayson, Selina Kyle and other members of Wayne’s extended network of friends and allies. Will Dick and Damian be enough to thwart Tommy’s plans – or will the end of Hush require the return of Bruce Wayne?

And in the new Two-Face co-feature, writer Ivan Brandon picks up where the trial of Two-Face left off in the Manhunter co-feature! Despite his innocence, Two-Face is a man on the run, and discovers that even when he thinks he has nothing left to lose, he hasn’t quite hit rock bottom!

  1. yessss!!!

  2. I can’t believe more people aren’t excited about this!!  Heart Of Hush was a great story!!

  3. Avatar photo Arrrggghhh (@Arrrggghhh) says:

I think my problem is that the whole Hush story just never really did it for me.
I also find it hard to accept that all the friends of Batman would permit Elliot to continue living the life of Bruce Wayne . . .

  4. Dini + Brandon + Nguyen = YES!!!

  5. Another gorgeous cover from Mr. Nguyen. Looking forward to this one.

@Arrrggghhh: Dini addressed that in the first Heart of Hush arc. Bruce’s various allies decided that it was in their best interest to allow Elliot to continue his charade under tight surveillance. They gave him a scare and have since taken turns monitoring him disguised as WayneCorps businessmen.

  6. @WheelHands: Still kinda weird though, isn’t it?

As if any hero would allow someone to step into another "dead" person’s life — knowingly.
Makes them all accessories after the fact, because they are helping a felon avoid being arrested.
Not just anyone, but a very powerful billionaire – who just so happens to be a team member and friend (to some.)

I would love to see Bruce’s reaction to this when he gets back.
It’d be Identity Crisis all over again.

  7. @Arrrggghhh: I’m sure they at least plan on tossing him in Arkham or Blackgate when Bruce returns. They’re not technically accessories if he hasn’t committed a crime as Bruce Wayne. Which he hasn’t. Yet. Because they’re monitoring him.

I mean I agree that it’s a blurry line to walk, even for these heroes. If I recall correctly, Dick wasn’t thrilled with the idea. But it’s a neccessary evil in order to prevent more people from discovering Batman’s identity. I think it’s a fantastic storytelling device. It adds suspense, puts pressure on a cunning villain, maintains Bruce’s cover, and works well enough within DC’s code of conduct.

  8. Sigh… the Prelude wasn’t bad, but I always dislike when the Second Feature is longer than the lead! 3/5 for me. I’ve decided when House of Hush is over, I’m ditching this book.

  9. How was the Two-Face story?  I don’t know/care about Hush but I was tempted too pick it up for a well-regarded writer taking a shot at Harv.  (So it didn’t bother me that the second feature was longer, basically).

  10. I really liked this one. Dini has done the impossible and made me interested in Hush. Although I was disappointed when it sequed abrubtly into the Two Face story halfway through the issue. But the backup wasn’t too shabby either.

  11. This wouldve been a 4/5 if it wasn’t for the uninspired back up and the main story being only 12 pages.

  12. Super pissed about the 12 page thing. I genuinely believe that this is unacceptable when the Two-Face story is being billed as a "Second Feature." Garbage.

(Though, I mean, I will admit that I liked what was there of the Dini stuff. But come on.)

  13. first this book changes writers randomly now the batman story is the co feature. why must you toy with my emotions 🙁

  14. I’m gonna have to switch to trades on this one.  I love the Dini stuff, but don’t care about the rest.  Just cannot justify spending half my $ on it
