  1. Tyler Crook’s back! Awesome!

  2. I have been looking at this cover for weeks now and everytime I have to take a moment to make sure my geekout is in check.

    • Hile, Gunslinger! Long days and pleasant nights. 🙂

Looking forward to this too. I have really been loving everything coming out of the Mignolaverse lately.

  3. capital, astonishing, excellent, splendid, remarkable, amazing…
how many ways can YOU say awesome?

  4. When I first saw this cover–and after I stopped drooling–I thought that maybe Johann was going to be turned into a Frankenstein’s monster. I’m still not sure, but now the solicit makes me think it’s a Zinco project. No matter what, I’m stoked for this issue.

  5. I can’t wait for this issue. Most exciting series of books right now.

  6. Hey guys – this seems like the best place to ask, iFanmembers being the cream of the comic-reading crop & all…

I’m working my way through the old B.P.R.D. trades from the library, & wanted to pick up an omnibus or two. Based on what I read from the Plague of Frogs TPB, I don’t think I want omnibus #1 (stories were too disjointed, characters still seemed pretty simplified), but having read Universal Machine & Garden of Souls, I absolutely NEED omnibus #3.

What I’m curious about is – is omnibus #2 worth buying? I haven’t read anything from it, but Universal Machine seemed like the point where the characters started to really flesh out & the stories became all-Arcudi awesomeness. (Omnibus #2 collects The Death, War On Frogs, and The Black Flame.)

    Suggestions?

    • I would say you should definitey get #2. The fact that you read #3 already with no problems understanding demonstrates how great these books are written/structured; you don’t NEED to know everything, but I think there is a lot of character development and story progression in the 2nd volume. In my opinion you’ll get a much more fullfilling experience if you take the full journey with these characters. War on Frogs is the story that begins the epic that is The Plague of Frogs. Both The Dead and The Black Flame continue that narrative, while elaborating on the motivations and experiences of the team members.

This is just my opinion, but I have read and re-read these books, and they just get better each time. I don’t think you can go wrong reading everything about this universe. Hope that helps.

    • I don’t know what your situation is, but if you can afford to drop $100, go to instock trades or something and buy all of it. I cut down on some other things so that I could do that a few months ago, and I don’t regret a cent of it. That sounds extreme, but it is THAT good and it stands up to multiple rereads, like TurdSandwich said.

    • Ah… My wallet & my wife were both hoping you guys would’ve said, Just go with vol 3, man. But thanks for the suggestions. I had a feeling that would be the answer. I just read through Killing Grounds last night – & damn it, why is Arcudi not at the top of best writers lists?! Plus, I picked up the old stuff to catch up to the new ones with Harren & Cook illustrating – but man, is Davis a master-class artist, or what?

Okay, I’ll sell a kidney or something. You can get all 3 omnibii for like $70 on Amazon. That is just insane.

  7. That’s what I did. I got these in floppy and in omnibus. Impossible to go wrong with these books, and I want to support them in every way I can. Arcudi and the BPRD is just so underrated, it makes me sad.

Pretty sure we know who the guy on the slab is, but I can’t wait to see the reveal and whether or not I’m right 🙂 And Zinco still has a frog! That is so awesome.

  8. Really really really good.

  9. this is good. great art and dialogue, but a bit of a slow start. i got a feeling that it’s going to be kicked into high gear next issue.
