‘Young Avengers’ co-creator Allan Heinberg and legendary artist Alan Davis (Avengers Prime) team up to create an epic stand-alone tale that’s the perfect jumping-on point for new readers and introduces the Marvel Universe to an all-new team of Avengers.

As a result of the Young Avengers’ crusade to find the Scarlet Witch, Patriot has become Captain America, Hulkling has become Captain Marvel, and Iron Lad has become the Avengers’ new leader, Kang the Conqueror. But the future of these new Avengers is deeply rooted in the untold story of the Young Avengers very first adventure — before the events of ‘Young Avengers #1.’ The past and the future collide – and the secrets of the Children’s Crusade are revealed – in ‘Avengers: The Children’s Crusade – Young Avengers #1.’

  1. What the?  Someone please explain this.  Thanks.

  2. the summary seems convoluted, but i can’t resist young avengers + future + alan davis

  3. @ctrosejr  I hear ya.  I was thinking it was a glitch since the numbers didn’t match the current.  It’s Allan Heinberg, though.  I also love future versions of characters.  Picking it up, but still a little strange and out of nowhere for me.

  4. I’m sorry, but I just don’t like Davis’ face for Patriot Cap. Just doesn’t look right. Like a caricature. Still, like wangman said, I can’t resist YA so I’ll be picking this up. Guess this is kind of like a .1 for Young Avengers.

  5. I think it shows how (SPOILERS) Iron Lad showed up in the last issue.

  6. so is this like a .1 issue?

  7. @boomergirl  Pretty much.

The problem is by the time the main series wraps up it’s going to be close to two years in length right? 12 issue bi-monthly series with issue breaks like this in the middle?

They must be tying Scarlet Witch back into the main X books and planning really really ahead. Marvel did say thing would kick off big time for the X-Men through 2012

  8. Heinberg + Davis +Young Avengers = You better be-goddamn-lieve I’m pulling this!

  9. PS: Love that they’re using Cassie Lang’s MC2 outfit. Nice little shout-out.

  10. Girl hawkeye using a crossbow!? For shame! Does anyone know if clint ever used one?

  11. Alan Davis. That’s all you have to say.

  12. Saw this on the shelf and the cover made me cringe. Really unoriginal look and the vision looks a bit anorexic.

  13. Really disappointed in the art especially the faces.

  14. time travel stories like these are always a bit confusing to me, but by the end of this I was a bit disappointed.  Kinda pointless story, but I like the cast and I’ll always look forward to Alan Davis’ work…though this was nowhere near his Avengers Prime quality.

  15. This was lame.
