  1. I’m looking forward to getting this issue and seeing the final part of the Team Achilles back-up story

  2. The low page count and lack-luster story made me go "Ugh" for the first time since this World’s End run began.

  3. I think they’ve effectively ruined what was one of my favorite titles.  Less than half of this issue was authority related, and this story line is going nowhere fast.  This series is about to code.

  4. @charliebf5 and DenX:  I too was really disappointed by the format of the story.  Having sooo much of the issue set reserved for the backup story and a preview of another book really limited what could be done with the story, and severely restricted the development and unfolding of the action.

However, having said that, I think DnA’s writing continues to be very entertaining, and the art looks good, to these eyes anyway. It is the FORMAT, however, that is choking the life out of the book.

Good(ish) news then, I think I read on one of the bulletin boards that Wildstorm will be stopping the backup stories soon, so that the FULL ISSUE can be devoted to the title characters (Yay!).

  5. Yes, the backup stories are ending in May so starting in June we’ll get full page count again! 😀

To everybody who was annoyed at the inclusion of the preview as well as the back-up – I was too, but being the nerd I am, I counted pages to see how much Authority had been sacrified for the extra content, and the answer was:  none.  It was an 18-page story, just like all the previous issues that have had a back-up at the end.  They made room for the preview by cutting out adverts.

Personally I thought the second half of this issue was especially good, and delivered an emotional kick which I wasn’t expecting.

  7. Sorry, the 1st para of my last comment is quoted from WoodenSpoonVersusShiv – I tried to put it in italics but something got %$£&ed up!
