So far DnA have been going a killer job with the Authority and how they’re mixing dramatic character moments like Apollo and Midnighter with more quieter character moments like Hawksmoor and Midnighter. the Writing team are doing a great job rebuilding this back to what made them great and Coleby’s moody arts brings everything together.
Another solid issue. I love that we not only got to see a great Midnighter beat-down on Eidolon, but I love the “verbal beat-down” Eidolon gives Midnighter after he resurrects. Eidolon’s argument is exactly why I stopped reading The Authority once upon a time. As Eidolon stated, it was always The Authority’s answer to kill off the problem. And how Eidolon throws it back in Midnighter’s face was brilliant. And I love how Midnighter started to agree with what Jack said about the world. It shows that he is changing as a character because he’s actually questioning the way they do things now considering the current state of the world. It doesn’t make Eidolon’s way right either, but it was a great dichotomy between the two characters.
The story with Angie and finding the mechanical creature was cool but I can see it was just the set-up for something bigger as we get The Establishment brought into the picture. I don’t think I every really read anything with The Establishment so I’ll be coming at them almost like a new reader.
And concerning the back-up story, this part was just ok I thought. For a while, it almost seemed to be rehashing things he had said in the first part. But then when they show the predicament with his cybernetic leg then that made it more interesting.
