ASTONISHING X-MEN #38

“MEANWHILE”

With their leaders away, should the X-Men deny their help? HELL NO! Storm, Colossus and Kitty Pryde join Beast and Agent Brand to take on the Brood. But when intergalactic law prevents the destruction of an enemy who can only be defeated by extermination, the X-Men have a problem. Are Storm and her crew up to the task? And what is Cyclops going to say when he learns of this? This adventure takes place at the same time as the MONSTROUS arc concurrently happening in Astonishing X-Men in a way never before seen!

  1. Astonishing how far this book has fallen off, didn’t they already deal with the Brood recently?

  2. Should I pull this because of Christos Gage? … Yes.

  3. Just came out last week… new creative team in the middle of a story arc, yet Gage has got me buying it.

  4. As far as i understood, the new arc would be telling two stories, simultaneously with two different creative teams. Sounds cool and the first arc with Pearson is good so far… Plus Gage has me giving this a shot.

  5. I dropped this after Way’s first issue. I wasn’t a big fan on Ellis’s run and Way had to blow me away. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t an improvement. I really want to try Gage on this book, but if it’s going to switch back and forth with Way, I’m not sure it’ll be worth it

  6. As a Storm-starved X-Men fan, I will check this book out.  I have no interest in the other team that has been appearing in this book.  I’m curious to see how they’re going to balance both teams.  Are the two teams going to written by different people or by the same people?

Minor complaint:  “With the leaders away…” because Storm isn’t considered an X leader anymore?  That’s bullshit.

  7. My god… The art… It must be burned.

Story was fine but how did this art get past anyone?

  8. I have to agree with Minion on this one. The art is horrendously bad!

  9. I didn’t mind it so much.  I think this was the guy who did the last “Exiles” series.  I didn’t like it at first, but if grew on me.

Anyone else surprised at Larroca’s different style on the cover?

  10. I didn’t enjoy the story (hardly at all) and the art was pretty annoying at times. This book was TOUGH to get through.
