  1. So, is anyone enjoying this as much as I do? I don’t hear anything about that book. Not on the net, not in my store.

In my store it’s normal though, since the people who buy Angel there, come in early friday (we get our comics on friday here in Germany), grab the book and leave. It’s almost as if comic book guys would suck out their life energy or something.

Anyway, I really like this one, with what the twists and all…

  2. Right here!

Agreed, no one’s talking about this book, but I’m lovin’ the hell out of it. Every issue knocks me for a loop and I can’t wait to find out what the hell’s going on. 🙂

  3. I’m not buying this book – even though ANGEL was one of my favorite series of the last decade – because the ending of that show was just too perfect.

  4. @connor I had the same attitude about this series at first, but my wife and I have been enjoying the Buffy series so much that I just gave in this past week and bought 1-3.

  5. @Connor: I can see that point. I contemplated the purchase for a long time, but finally gave in, for the same reason Rofo here did. The Buffy series was so damn good that I wanted to check in with Angel as well. And I have to tell you, no matter how great the finale was, (and you’re totally right when you say the ending was too perfect, because it was a work of genius) the comic book really delivers. Brian Lynch has a great handle on all the characters and it’s just pure Angel fun when you read it.

Still, there is a part of me that thinks it’s wrong to read it, just because the TV-show was so great.

  7. I’m also loving this book.  There are twists and turns surrounding every character.  I didn’t even contemplate the ending of the issue 3.  While I am also a big fan of the ending of Angel (actually I think the last season of Angel was the best season out of all of buffy and angel…Lindsay…Adam Baldwin…Nazis…Puppets…and the Spike Angel dynamic), I’ll take more Angel and Buffy where I can get it.  And this is damn good comic/Angel.  I have no doubt in my mind that if the series hadn’t ended, fans would be happy with the way the new season would go based on this book.

@connor: I also think you can enjoy this, without ruining the fun and finality of the last episode of Angel.  It really should only take one issue to hook you or not.  So not that much of an investment, but your reasons seem more personal than monetary.  Plus the way it has been going, you really don’t know how the characters got from the end of the show to where they are now (at least not yet).

Either way…it feels damn good to be talking about these characters again in any form.  Upcoming Serenity mini should muster the same feelings.

  8. @nroa: We’ll learn some stuff about how they got their when issue six hits with the "first night" storyline. As I understand it it’s a compilation of short stories depicting the happenings right after the season 5 finale. Originally it was planned as a one-shot, but they decided to put it into the series, which kinda sucks.

  9.  Did issue 4 come out??? I went into the store expecting to pick this up, it was ging to be at the top of my stack but there were none on the shelf. Admittedly, the way it sells in my local store I should get them to pull it for me but they said they didn’t have any??? Im in the UK so it may be an issue with diamond or something but oh my god the end of issue 3 was awesome. I thought issue 1 was average but 2 and 3 have been amazing and the twists are brilliant, I think this is better than Buffy’s season 8 over at dark horse and just hope it continues to be awesome

  10. @Sammy: They didn’t have any? Damn. We get our stuff through Diamond UK as well, I just hope it’s there tomorrow. I couldn’t take to wait any longer…

  11. Yep, totally agree with everyone, I’m loving the heck out of this book, and it doesn’t get talked about nearly enough. I got into this because a) I loved the show and b) the Buffy run has been great. Now I’d almost say this may have eclipsed Buffy. It’s just that damn good!

Conor, give it a shot, dude. If you loved how the show ended, you’ll totally dig this. It continues the feeling of that finale perfectly. Just my opinion, but go for it!

  12. I started buying this book since issue #1, but it wasn’t until the last page of issue #3 did I get really hooked. That reveal just brought the book up a notch second only to Buffy Season 8. I agree with Connor that the ending to the show was perfect, but since there’s a story out there that the creator himself (Joss) says is canon, than why not check it out, right? I just wish the price of the book went down a bit…

  13. This issue wasn’t as good as #3.  Hopefully 5 will improve things.  The story is ok so far, but I’mnot a big fan of the artwork.  Sometimes its right on, but other times I can’t figure out who the characters are and that makes the story hard to follow.
