  1. I’ve just read the first two trades, & really enjoyed them , so I think this is a series I am going to check out. Not into the horror/vampire scene normally so I think this is a one-off for moi!

  2. I picked the Lord of Nightmares mini as a way to get into this series since Snyder was born awesome..so could I still jump on the ongoing by starting on this one and not get lost?

  3. Good to see Rafa is back. Really looking forward to this arc!

  4. Yup, Rafa’s back, this is billed as an epic storyline by Snyder and Co., I can’t wait. I’m bummed I can’t read this till I return from vacation, but there are far worse problems to have.

  5. I’ve been looking forward to reading this especially with Rafael back on it plus I always like it when books take it back to where it all started. Maybe there will even be a return of Pearl’s friend Hattie you never know.

  6. Can’t wait for this arc. The last two issues were not up to the usual high standards of this title and I’m looking forward to a return to form with Rafa back.

  7. Great that Rafael is back on board – the art has been good without him but he gives it that extra kick. Looking forward to this one!

  8. While the guest artists have done an admirable job mirroring Rafael’s art, it’s good to have the originator back at the table. Looking forward to seeing what revelations he and Scott have in store for us. I can see this series being picked up by a cable network in a few years…. Do it HBO!

  9. Dear Mr. Albuquerque,

    Thank you for being awesome.

    Sincerely,

  10. Question: If I know nothing about American Vampire, can I start with this issue?

    • Well I pre-ordered this issue & only at the start of this week bought the first two trades, so I i’m new to it as well pretty much.

But there may be the odd character or story related incident that may not make sense so take it at your risk, definitely get the first trade if you can really good stuff.
I won’t read any new issues til I am up-to-date, so waiting on the third trade next……

    • I mentioned this in my review, but yeah, this seems like the perfect issue to jump on with (no hyperbole). It gives you a really good sense of what the series is, and the characters & basic setup are all in the dialogue here without it feeling like exposition. And Synder’s talked about this being a pivotal & long arc, so we should get a pretty full self-contained narrative here.

Of course you’ll miss out on a few of the subtleties, but nothing that’ll derail the story, & will probably just leave you chomping at the bit to go back & get the other stuff.

  11. I saw the variant cover and it looks like Travis is back! Will he be on Peal and Skinner’s side or will he hunt them? I am can’t wait to find out!
