  1. I LOVE Bernet, but I felt like his style is too cartoony for an American Vampire story. His Old West landscapes and the characters are awesome though.

    • I agree. It’s still a good looking book though. I’m more concerned about the story in this arc. I wasn’t digging the last issue. I mean it was still good, but not like the scary stuff in previous arcs. Curious to see what happens this issue.

    • Art & story both delivered for me in this issue. Bernet artwork felt just right with the western landscapes & the central woman character. And the horror in the cave towards the end of the issue (trying to be vague) felt really atmospheric & unexpected. 5/5

  2. when is rafael coming back?

  3. Bernet is why I’m buying this one (& bought the last issue).

  4. I really dug Bernet’s art in the first issue. I am looking forward to this one, new AV is always a good thing.

  5. Really want this to go Digital same day as print so I can start giving scott snyder my money again. Alas this is still the only book I miss from switching to all digital. Oh well it’s a small loss considering I save $30 a month in gas, no sales tax, and no paper trash collecting in my house like a hoarder. Come on scott please convince vertigo to make this digital like every other publisher is already doing.

  6. Didn’t know Jordi Bernet was drawing this arc, till I read a review, I may have to scrap up some cash to get this and the last issue.

  7. Well, how many ways can you say great? This series has just been so consistantly sweet, and this issue is no exception. The art is rad, the story keeps getting bigger and better. Plus who doesn’t love a book with Vampire-squaw boobies, right?

  8. That last page made me want to puke a little.

  9. I miss Albuquerque too, but man did Bernet knock this one out of the park. With the exception of a few shakey panels here and there, this issue was beautiful. I love the idea that the woman in the cave was technically the first American vampire. Great stuff. I’m really looking forward to the next issue. It should be a bloodbath.
